Love Story: A Gathering of Celebrants is the new love-fuelled event coming to Geelong

In a first for Geelong, Bellarine and the Surf Coast, local entrepreneur and celebrant Di Schmidtke has produced ‘Love Story A Gathering of Celebrants.’

At the heart of any wedding, whether it be in the surrounds of a stunning winery or a low-key elopement on the beach, marriage celebrants play a crucial role in helping couples celebrate their love and commitment to one another. As trained professionals, they are responsible for leading the ceremony, guiding couples through the legal requirements of getting married, and helping them create a personalized and meaningful celebration.

Celebrating celebrants and their dedication to celebrating love is Love Story: A Gathering of Celebrants, the brand-new event arriving in the Geelong region this September.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.

Taking place Friday 1 September and Saturday 2 September 2023 at the beautiful Eden Oak in Eastern Gardens, ‘Love Story A Gathering of Celebrants’ arrives from local entrepreneur and celebrant Di Schmidtke and aims to promote the remarkable offerings of Geelong and surrounds to the national wedding industry.

“This event will be toured, but I am so proud to kick start in my hometown. The wedding industry in our region is positively booming, with couples travelling from all over Australia and indeed the world to be married in our venues, wineries and beaches,” says Di Schmidtke.

“Let’s not miss this opportunity to showcase the wonders of our region!”

Running across two days, the event (which is open to anyone to attend) will feature a variety of guest speakers, including Barrister & Celebrant (Real Housewives of Melbourne) Gina Liano, who will candidly share the life-changing moments of her life; Samuel Johnson OAM (star of Love Your Sister, Secret Life of Us, Dancing with the Stars, Molly) who will present in his dynamic, heartfelt and passionate style in sharing his newest novel, ‘Dear Lover’ which includes love letters written by celebrities; and Dr Karen Sutherland who will present about the theory and practice of social media, including a Master Class to set you on your social media path.

The event will also feature the likes of Archie Beetle who will present their Queer Workshop, timely information about the non-gendered use of language; local Celebrant Queen Jessie Belle who will teach her hard earned stagecraft skills; Bake-Off Australia Alumni, MC, Celebrant and Caker, Zee Scott who will wow with her skills to run multiple wedding related businesses; and Sally Cant, renowned celebrant will inspire with stories from almost 30 years of celebrancy.

As a special treat for those in the creative wedding industry, The Altar Electric team are sharing their stories of good ol’ Vegas style weddings surrounded by velvet, neons, mirror balls and the odd quirky bunch of florals and masses of confetti, big, multi-coloured confetti. They’ll be hosting Love Party For Creatives, which is a Glam Disco event happening on the Saturday night at Eden Oak as the Epilogue to Love Story.
