Loose Tooth: The Melbourne outfit partying at Radfest

Loose Tooth are the garage pop three-piece band crafting sweet guitar pop with frayed edges who will be performing at the new festival Radfest. Forté chat to the band’s drummer and vocalist Etta Curry.

Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to chat with Forte Magazine, how are you and what are you up to at the moment?
Hey! Thank you for having us! We are all good- still being busy little bee’s with work and gigs and life! We are getting ready to slow down for the year and write ourselves a new album which should be very exciting.

You’re performing at Radfest next month. How did you get involved with the event?
They simply asked us if we would like to play and we thought it sounded like a great event and a great opportunity! With lot’s of other amazing Melbourne acts on the line-up, how could we say no!? I think the fact that it is a new festival is most exciting- who knows what can/will happen.

The event asserts its commitment to not have a total sausage fest, focusing on including as many local lady acts as they can. Why is this so important for events like this?
I think it just continues to support the inclusion of women in the music world, which has always been pretty male dominated. So nice to see so many great female musicians getting the opportunity to play a variety of festivals and shows… makes for a fun time for everyone!

We hear there will be a Costume Exchange, will you guys be getting involved in that one?
How could we stay away!

You recently supported Chastity Belt in Melbourne, how was it supporting your favourite band?
The best! Luckily enough, we all got on like a house on fire and were able to take them out and about during their time in Melbourne which made the experience even more special. Definitely goes into our top five best moments of being in this band.

You guys were nominated for ‘Best Emerging Act’ for The Age Music Awards, how did it feel when you found out?
So confusing! I would never have thought that we would be in any sort of position for a nomination, but it felt so nice! It made all of our parents very proud so that’s a bonus.

Being long-time friends, how do you guys go working together, do you get along more like friends, or siblings?
I would say a bit of both actually. More than often we hang out like friends, but you can get those sibling vibes coming through at times. We definitely have a laugh in everything we do, which makes being in this band such a fun time.

What are your plans for heading the rest of the year and heading into 2017?

We are hoping to wind down for the rest of the year (have a couple more cheeky shows coming up) then start the process of writing our album and recording it in early 2017… very exciting times!

When & Where: Radfest, Toolleen – November 5 & 6
