If you are in need of some speed and high octane adrenaline action, this is for you.
Prepare for a weekend of high drama and high speed as round two of the 2022 Offshore Superboat Championships take to Corio Bay.
Running across two days, thousands of spectators are expected to line the Geelong foreshore to witness three Offshore Championship races and two Sport 65 & 85 races, with the pit area located in Steampacket Gardens on the Geelong Waterfront.
Here the usually still Corio Bay will turn into a high-speed course for high-powered jet boats, reaching incredible speeds, causing quite the spectacle for locals and visitors to the region.

With the 2021 season cut short due to COVID, the championships finally kicked off in Wyndham over the long weekend, with the future round going down in Hervey Bay and Lake Macquarie in May.
As part of the 65mph production class, local business Edencraft will finally be able to return to its roots and showcase its locally manufactured products.
“As a local Geelong business, it’s essential to support events like this,” says Edencraft International General Manager Mr Grant Maher.
“The local round of the Superboat Championship is the perfect opportunity for us to showcase what we create. We are doing this by entering a run of the mill production recreational fishing boat in the 65mph production class.”
Born out of American powerboat racing in the 60s, the infamous boat builder Don Aronow developed a winning “formula” with his 23ft 3in hull design. The first boat to wear the Formula name was Don’s 1963 built a 233 called Cigarette. The boat was an instant winner, and Don Aronow and his Formula became the foundation of the success of offshore powerboat racing.
At the same time that Aronow and his team were racing the Formula in The US, Garry and John Haines Snr from Haines Hunter boats fame were offered the rights to produce Formula 233 in Australia. During this time, Formula 233 became a successful foundation for building recreational and fishing boats.
Fast forward to the late 1980s, the Haines Hunter factory closed and Edencraft, then a marine service centre in Eden, NSW, took over the production. Edencraft changed hands several times, moving to Geelong in mid-2000.
Long story short, with continuous design updates, The Formula 233 has remained the company’s flagship and the cutting edge of trailer boat design, one which you’ll see in this championship.
