Hailed as one of Victoria’s best boutique festivals over the last couple of years, Loch Hart Music Festival has lifted the lid on the first round of artists set to perform in the small scenic town of Princetown when the festival makes its anticipated return for summer, after an involuntary break in 2020.
Situated a stone’s throw from The Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge along Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road, the grassroots BYO event plays host to more than 20 Australian acts over one weekend on one stage in a natural amphitheatre at Kangaroobie Camp and has seen performances from the likes of Didirri, Alice Ivy, Alpine, Waax, Last Dinosaurs and Genesis Owusu over the years to the delight of hundreds of happy punters – and by the looks of it, this year will be no different.

Leading the pack of Loch Hart’s tantalising first-peek at the line-up is South Australia’s favourite sons and died-in-the-wool purveyors of Australian pub-rock Bad//Dreems, R&B revelation and frequent Sampa The Great collaborator KYE, genre-bending jazzy jam locals Sunnyside, triple j Unearthed comp winners The Spaghetti Stains, regional psych-pop outfit Go Dog Go, and Mornington Peninsula’s latest star Holly Hebe, with even more to be announced over the coming months.
Alongside the music, Loch Hart also promises three days of region-first focused comedy, art, yoga, crafts and more this November, to be delivered in a new COVID-safe format.
“It was heartbreaking to cancel last year’s event, but the time away has afforded us ample opportunity to re-deliver Loch Hart in a responsible, Covid-safe format, that doesn’t sacrifice any of the festival experiences our punters know and love. Our spacious coastal site coupled with our intimate 2,000 cap means that we count ourselves among the lucky few Victorian fests likely to go ahead this season,” says festival director Jayden Bath.
“The stand-up comedy hour, BYO policy, food trucks, yoga and glamping will all be back, and we’ll be adding many more unique festival offerings in 2021.
“Now may seem like an odd time to announce a Victorian music festival line-up, but we’re optimistic. While things feel gloomy at the moment, we are confident that by November, small outdoor music festivals such as Loch Hart are going to be all the rage!”
The dual recipient of RISE and Creative Victoria’s Music Works grants has enabled Loch Hart to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, and continue to focus on bringing an inclusive, sustainable and diverse musical event to the under-serviced south-west Victorian region.
