Loch Hart Music Festival

Taking place from Friday, November 18 to Sunday, November 20, the grassroots BYO event will be bringing more than 20 world-class acts over one November weekend to one stage in a natural amphitheatre at Kangaroobie Camp, situated a stone’s throw from The Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge along Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road.

Heading up the music lineup for the November edition is producer, bandleader and synthesist Harvey Sutherland who will turn the farm into a pulsating dancefloor, noted Australian treasure Peter Bibby, Australia’s queen of soul Kylie Auldist, South Sudanese legend Gordon Koang and Party Dozen, a sonic partnering of saxophonist Kirsty Tickle and percussionist Jonathan Boulet.

The rest of the lineup is just as impressive, featuring a diverse crop of artists including the local supergroup Galah; Jarrah Ma – the solo project of Sandy Dish’s guitarist; Lightbulb (aka Mikey Cahill); DJ extraordinaire La Porgretta; Melbourne’s ageless boy wonder Milo Eastwood; Fashion icons meet pop sensations WIIGZ; half country, half folk, full-time storyteller Watty Thompson with a 10-piece band; neo-soul, alternative-pop and jazz-rock music project Velvet Bloom; Melbourne-based disco jazz collective Squid Nebula; singer-songwriter Harmony Byrne; and DJ and live choir Sunshine & Disco Faith Choir.

There’s also the enchanting Roy Blues; Melbourne folk musician Leah Senior; UFO of the Australian scene Alien Nosejob; two-piece electronic act Digital Afrika; Melbourne electric collective Empress; garage punk rock duo Good Sniff; Melbourne locals Hobsons Bay Coast Guard; and Nurse Punk Band Wurst Nurse.

Alongside the music, Loch Hart also promises three days of region-first focused entertainment this November, with the likes of Aaron Gocs, Blake Freeman, Emma Holland, Sonia Di Iorio and Tim Hewitt leading the comedy lineup. Plus morning yoga sessions, giant games and an outdoor cinema to keep everyone entertained while local food trucks, market stalls and an on-site bar will be there so punters can pick up some gourmet eats or buy some fresh festival attire between trips to the bar and festival stage.

In an exciting addition to the festival, following the success of the January festival, Loch Hart is also now a family friendly event, giving the future generations something to reminisce about for years to come! Children aged 12 and under are free while children aged 13-17 must have their own ticket. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and have a signed Guardian Consent Form to experience the sheer bliss, joy and wonder of this intimate gathering.

Championing an escape to one of the most beautiful and diverse areas in the country, the festival offers free camping as part of its ticket pricing, with punters setting up tents, swags or caravans on a spectacular hilltop camping area boasting 180 degrees oceans views. For those camping with children, there’s a family camping area to set yourself up in for the weekend. If glamping is more your vibe, Loch Hart has you covered with premium bell tent options, starting at just over $50 per person a night, which is an absolute steal if you’re a festival newbie or you don’t own your own camping equipment. A little luxury never hurts when it comes to a multi-day music fest either though.

As if we needed more reason to adore this local festival, sustainability is also at its core. Building on from previous years, all the food and drink offerings will be served in reusable cups, plates and bowls with the utensils to match. Replacing single-use plastic, while the BYO policy (no glass) means people could pull up an esky and enjoy incredible homegrown Australian acts without queuing hours for overpriced drinks and food. The BYO policy also extends to couches along with your beers so you can lounge around the amphitheatre in the sunny afternoons. Just remember to take it home with you when you leave.

With three days of body-moving music, in addition to comedy, free camping, BYO, food trucks, ocean views, yoga, cinema, arts, giant games and more in the laid-back surrounds of Loch Hart Music Festival 2022, you’d be mad to miss it.

Loch it in music lovers.
