Liz Stringer: All the Bridges

With this release, Liz Stringer puts out her fifth studio album, and what many are saying is her best. Recorded over eight days in Portland, USA, the release features appearances from Luke Ydstie (bass) and Ben Nugent (drums).

Throughout the release Stringer’s honey-toned, smoky vocals croon with each track, and with a very Divinyls, the Pretenders feel, it has the illusion you’ve slipped on a record from your parents treasured collection.

Highlight on the album is ‘Protecting Myself’ which with its fast-paced nature, catchy lyrics and killer guitar solo to close the track, enforces the ‘80s presence on the release. It’s one that sticks with you. Interestingly enough, Stringer has said the song is about the wealthy and the effect personal gain has on the community.

‘Half-filled Cup’ is sentimental and echoes emotions and sentiments we’ve all felt before. In this release there’s mentions of sadness, greed, growing older, kindness and so much more. Listening to a Liz Stringer release is much more than good music, it’s an education and a lesson in life. Get educated.
