You ripper, live music is back!
Nestled on the eastern fringe of the City of Geelong, The Elephant & Castle Hotel has been part of the landscape in town for years now, with a history stretching back over 130 years.
Owned by Geelong’s infamous Darryn Lyons, the last 20 months in and out of lockdown have truly made us appreciate the quirky, yet classic interior, the endless roster of live entertainment, the welcoming patrons and the generous pub feeds.
Thankfully the Elephant are back and are heading into the festival season full steam ahead with an abundance of live music planned for devoted locals and tourists alike to enjoy at a pre-covid capacity.
Keep up with the latest food and booze news via our website.
Perfectly timed as venue restrictions are set to ease one final time, the hotel will host the one and only Glitter Gang on Saturday, November 27 in the main bar, who will be performing for the first time since July. Promising to be an absolute belter of a show, the 70’s glam rock band have become part of the fabric of the Geelong live music scene over the years due to their stage presence and expert delivery of British Glam and Aussie hits we all know and love!
They’ll kick off at 9:30pm on the night, so all you need to do is make sure you’re fed and ready to dance (or drink) the night away.
Keeping the ball rolling, the Elephant and Castle have secured acts for every Saturday night in December (excluding Christmas Day). Saturday December 4 will see Totally 80s bringing back their collection of 80s hits to the dancefloor, while the following Saturday will see the venue host the esteemed ‘SOS The Australian Abba Tribute Show’. This one is unfortunately sold out, but there will be DJ Jim Danza’s Retro Party Set in the Beer Garden DJ from 7.30pm if you’re still keen to dance.
If you’ve been itching to sing along to some classic rock anthems, In Bed By Nine will hit up the Elephant on Saturday, December 18 delivering a stolen collection of hits from the likes of KISS, Angels, Bon Jovi, AD/DC, Dragon, INXS, Pearl Jam and more. Their last show at the Elephant back in May was coined the ‘One Last Hoorah’ so we’re stoked to see these guys back on the live music circuit.
If you’ve already started thinking about our New Year’s Eve plans, the Elephant are here to throw their hat in the ring with their Totally 80s NYE dress to impress party – it’s guaranteed you’ll be bringing in the new year with a huge pub singalong.
While the Saturdays at the Castle are looking pretty fine, their Friday nights are just as good with their weekly karaoke and cocktails night.
Taking over the main bar every Friday night, the pub is hosting karaoke from 9pm with $14 Lexington Espresso Martini Special to get you singing and dancing all night long to the likes of Poker Face, The Horses, Livin’ On A Prayer or Wannabe.
Whether it’s pregame for a big night out, or the final destination once you’ve had so much to drink that you forget that you can’t hold a tune (at 9pm at night…), it’s going to be hard to have a forgettable night of karaoke at the Elephant! Oh, and it’s free entry!
Live music, karaoke, cocktails… Life is looking good, really good, right now.
