Expressions of Interest are now open for musicians and venues looking to get involved in Live and Local Warrnambool – a 10 day celebration of live music.
With the aim of injecting vibrancy, performance and live music back into Warrnambool’s local scene, Live and Local is a new 10-day celebration of live music taking over the regional town this September.
The series will run from September 9 to 18 and will include a string of live performances as well as professional development sessions – with the exact format to be primarily driven by the Expression of interest process, with the event now accepting entries.

Presented by Warrnambool City Council in partnership with the Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS and supported by Music Victoria, Live and Local has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
Warrnambool Mayor Cr Vicki Jellie said that musicians will be paid for their performances, and venues will be fully supported with any technical requirements, so it was a great opportunity to get involved in.
“It’s largely up to local musicians and venues as to how the live performances work – there’s a lot of flexibility so we are welcoming any and all ideas,” she said.
“Feel free to be creative as we aren’t just looking for traditional music venues. There could be live music at a florist, a hairdressers, a clothing store or even a nursery.
“You don’t need a fully formed plan to be involved though. All you need is to be either a local musician interested in a paid gig, or a business looking to host live music. We can help match musicians and venues.
“Live musicians and audio professionals were among the hardest hit throughout the pandemic, and with COVID-19 cases still causing all sorts of logistical headaches and cancellations, they are still being impacted.
“Live and Local is a way to increase the number of live music opportunities, encourage more businesses to think about hosting live music and to provide high-level professional development.”
