The revival of The Libertines has been one met with great enthusiasm. Dropping into the indie rock scene in 2002 with the chaotic-caller Up The Bracket and exploding with their self-titled effort in 2004, The Libertines, the band quickly won over hearts of the squat, beat down generation of ragamuffins. In 2015 the band reunited for Anthems For Doomed Youth, resurrecting the Lennon/McCartney-esque writing style of Doherty and Barat with anthems for the working-class.

After yet another ten year hiatus, The Libertines set right back into their form for this years All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade. All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade produced three genius singles, ‘Run, Run, Run’, ‘Night Of The Hunter’, and Shiver’ and delivered The Libertines a second UK Number #1 album 20 years on from their eponymously titled second album in 2004. Touring in support of this latest release the band are currently playing a string of sold out shows across the UK and Ireland. Australian fans can expect to hear new material alongside the band’s classic hits including ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’, ‘Time For Heroes’, fan picks ‘What A Waster’ and ‘Boys In The Band’ and of course live favourites ‘The Delaney’ and ‘May Day’.

If you haven’t seen The Libertines live, their shows are outrageously chaotic as the bromance/brotherhood of Barat and Doherty takes the forefront, as sweat pours, bodies shake animalistically and tunes are blasted. The Libertines have long held a reputation as the epitome of hedonistic indie rock and their live shows are something to be seen to be believed.

Tickets for The Libertines return go on sale 10am Local, Monday September 16. Secret Sounds pre-sales available from 10am local time Friday September 13. Head here for further information.
