Life-size games, blindfolded beer-tasting, more than 150 beers and ciders set for Ballarat Beer Festival

Ballarat knows what’s up and has nicknamed itself ‘Beerllarat’ for Saturday January 21 when the Ballarat Beer Festivals returns for 2017.

The festival will be held at the City Oval featuring over 150 different styles of beer and cider and 40 different brewers including the likes of Coopers, Pirate Life, Brooklyn Brewery, Hawkers and Two Birds. Attendees will also be treated to 20 new release beers never tasted before.

After your ‘tasting’ skills have been tested, move onto the Beerllarat Olympics and try your hand at Human Sized Foosball! The ‘Beerllarat Olympics’ join the festival for the first time in 2017, featuring a range of activities suitable for families and friends.

“Before being festival director, I went to the festival a few times and it was one of the best, most enjoyable festivals I’ve ever been to,” Ballarat Beer Festival Director Ric Dexter before adding,”It’s relaxed, it’s calm, the crowd is beautifully well behaved and it’s a fantastic event for everyone, not just those who have a passion for really great beer.”

Throughout the day there are also education classes about cheese and beer pairing, blindfolded beer tasting, brewery experts on hand, live music and regional wines for those not keen on a pint.

The ‘Brew Cage’ experience offers a VIP take on the festival, and there’s also the opportunity for a degustation dinner on the Friday night before the event.
