Level up your summer nights with these Boozy Coast Seltzer Sorbets

These light, fruity and refreshing boozy sorbet recipes will make your summer and leave you feeling guilt-free from your indulging.

Beach days, dodgy tan lines, red-hot bitumen, gatherings, get-togethers and soirées and the Hottest 100, summer is well and truly here and we’ve just found the perfect treat to level up your last few weekends of summer.

Give a warm and boozy welcome to Coast Hard Seltzer Sorbet.

Keep up with the latest local food and booze news here.

Hard seltzers have, arguably, become the drink of summer. If you haven’t heard of seltzer before, it is an irresistible mix of sparkling water, spiked with alcohol and dashes of natural flavours. Boasting a low sugar and calorie content – unlike the alcopops of our past – Seltzer’s are entirely vegan and gluten-free, making this the drink for those of us who fancy a tipple without the stodgy aftereffect.

Entirely refreshing, sorbet is a fruit ice-cream that contains only water, sugar and fruit purée.

So what could be more refreshing than a delightful mix of the two?

Arguably the ultimate boozy dessert, these refreshing frozen treats are seriously changing the game and thanks to our good friends at Coast in Torquay, we’ve got eyes on some Seltzer Sorbet recipes that would inspire a Harry Styles album.

Find something fresher for summer sipping, we’ll wait.

Watermelon Coast Seltzer Sorbet

Serves 3-4

Ingredients:

  • ½ Watermelon (enough for 2 cups!)
  • 1 can of Watermelon Coast Hard Seltz
  • OPTIONAL: Feel free to add some sweetener if you choose! We personally found it pretty great on it’s own.

Method:

  1. It’s really as simple as 1-2-3 with this! First up we chop our watermelon into smallish cubes before freezing overnight.
(COAST TIP: We definitely kicked back with a spare Seltzer while waiting for our watermelon to freeze)
  2. Once your fruit has frozen, pop it all into a food processor or blender with a squeeze of lemon or lime, your optional sweetener and Watermelon Coast Hard Seltzer!
  3. Blitzzzz your concoction to a smooth texture…this is very satisfying to watch. ASMR at its finest.
  4. Serve the Coast Watermelon Seltzer Sorbet in your fave glass with garnishing of your choosing. You could use a fresh slice of melon or lime if that sounds great to you.
  5. Finish up with your fave Coast Seltzer and enjoy!

Blood Orange Coast Seltzer Sorbet

Serves 2-3

Ingredients:

  • 2 clubs of freshly Squeezed Blood Orange (we used about 4-5 big Blood Oranges!)
  • 1 can of Blood Orange Coast Seltzer
  • OPTIONAL: Feel free to add some sweetener if you choose! We personally added ¼ cup of sugar/coconut sugar to this one and don’t love it super sweet. If you’re a sweet tooth try ½ cup.

Method:

  1. First thing here is to juice our Blood Oranges so we end up with 2 cups! You can add some lemon or lime to this mix if that tickles your fancy.
  2. Next thing is to mix your juice with your sweetener over a medium to low heat. Continue to stir while the sweetener dissolves. Once it dissolves, add 1 cup of Coast Blood Orange Seltzer and continue to stir for another minute.
  3. Let the mixture cool before pouring into a freezer safe container and let it set overnight in the freezer.
  4. When frozen, let thaw for 5 minutes before serving with your favourite garnish. We served it with fresh blood orange but you could try serving it with some dark chocolate too.
  5. Enjoy with your favourite Coast Seltzer!

TIP: When adding alcohol to a sorbet, do so in small increments. Alcohol reduces a sorbet base’s freezing point, thus making the sorbet softer and easier to scoop. And the more alcohol you add, the softer the sorbet gets.
