Original pages from Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Atlanticus will be on display at THE LUME Melbourne

The experience promises to be the most ambitious and immersive yet, transcending generations with captivating features for all ages. Alongside the original Codex Atlanticus pages, guests will encounter to-scale machine inventions, a 360º replica of the Mona Lisa, and cutting-edge AI and VR interactive technologies bringing da Vinci’s work to life.

As visitors journey through the immersive gallery, they will traverse the streets of Florence, the canals of Venice, and the history of Rome, gaining profound insights into da Vinci’s inspirations and innovations.

The Codex Atlanticus, da Vinci’s largest collection of drawings and notes, offers a fascinating glimpse into the mind of one of history’s greatest geniuses. Compiled between 1478 and 1519, these pages reveal da Vinci’s visionary ideas spanning architecture, engineering, and flight.

Securing these priceless treasures for display in Australia was no small feat, requiring more than a decade of dedicated relationship-building with Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, custodians of much of da Vinci’s legacy. With meticulous planning and comprehensive funding, THE LUME Melbourne has ensured the success of this cultural milestone independently.

Bruce Peterson, Founder of THE LUME Melbourne, expressed the significance of the event, stating, “These pages from the Codex Atlanticus represent not just a collection of sketches and writings but a gateway into the brilliance of Leonardo da Vinci’s mind.”

“Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius presented by Webuild” opens at THE LUME Melbourne, located at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, on March 16, 2024. Adult tickets start from $49.90, and more information and tickets can be found on thelumemelbourne.com.
