Grammy-winning Texan R&B star Leon Bridges is set for his first Melbourne show since 2019 when he plays at the Hamer Hall in September.
Bridges is coming to Melbourne as part of a national tour also including dates in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney, after the notable success of his latest record, 2021’s Gold-Diggers Sound. Milan Ring will support Bridges in all shows except for Sydney.
That record, Bridges’ third, picked up two Grammy nominations, hit the top 20 in the Billboard 200, and spawned the singles ‘Sweeter’, ‘Motorbike’, and ‘Why Don’t You Touch Me’ (accompanied by a two-part film).
Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.
Bridges has sold out shows all around the world, including Melbourne, where he played multiple nights at the Palais Theatre last time around.
Gold-Diggers Sound followed Bridges’ 2015 debut Coming Home and his monumental sophomore release, 2018’s Good Thing, which won a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance. He’s also a seasoned collaborator, releasing music with artists like Khruangbin, The Avalanches, Noah Cyrus, John Mayer, Lucky Daye, Kacey Musgraves, Jazmine Sullivan, and Diplo.
