This pandemic has crushed a lot of things, but it’s failed to dissuade the passion, creativity and positive spirit of Geelong sister duo Lash78, comprised of Lauren and Sheridan Harvey.
Performing consistently and having some form of involvement in the music industry since they were just seven and eight years old, the sisters have built a solid reputation over the past 14 years for their knockout harmonies and captivating, fun and energetic performances.
Driven by passion and dedication, we saw the rock-pop duo rise to success with the release of their debut EP ‘Who’ last year. Reminiscent of Swedish First Aid Kit, the EP was jam-packed with energy, fire, twang, and the voices of the sisters are empowering and motivating, stirring many emotions: strength, anger, sadness, passion and more.
With a passion for creating music stronger than ever before and the advantage of isolating together at their family home, the pandemic has seen the girls hosting weekly ‘Bored In The House’ live sessions through both Victorian lockdowns. Brimming with live music, requests, Q&A’s, new music previews and even a truth or shots game, these sessions have been bringing a lot of musical joy to everyone watching from home, so much so, that it’s caught the attention of local arts intuition Geelong Arts Centre.
Continuing to bring a regular dose of creativity, direct from their theatres to our homes, the Geelong Arts Centre launched the #WhereCreativityMeetsAtHome initiative earlier this year which has already featured a host of livestream takeovers by local folk singer/songwriter Hassall, award-winning comedian/songwriter Jude Perl, cabaret star, Michaela Burger, local musician Taylor Henderson, comedy trio Tripod, and even Aussie music legend Ella Hooper, among many others.
Now the sisters will take to the Geelong Arts Centre stage in what promises to be a powerful and uplifting performance, packed with all the loved elements of their ‘Bored In The House’ sessions, plus a whole lot of laughs from everyone back home. Their music is brilliant, but it’s their stage presence and lively personas that truly captivate audiences.
