KYE, Cool Out Sun and more announced for accessible Groove Tunes party

More good news is expected soon.

After a banger inaugural run last year, Groove Tunes is back with a fully inclusive party like no other. Taking place on June 3 at Richmond’s Corner Hotel, the event has unveiled the first round of artists set to perform at the big show.

This year’s headliner will be the rising British pop and RnB star KYE. Best known for her effervescent, sun-soaked sound, the artist has gained over a million streams on Spotify since the release of her debut EP Good Company in 2021. She will be joined by Naarm collective Cool Out Sun and Fijian First Nations soul artist Voli K, with two more artists to be announced soon.

Hosted by the independent accessibility consultancy Tibi Access, Groove Tunes hopes to lead by example on what accessible events can be. To ensure everyone can enjoy the event, it will feature an accessible website and signage, gender-neutral bathrooms, Auslan interpreters, an accessible entrance and lift, a lowered bar, lyrics videos, a sensory zone and braille tickets (upon request).

The event is also taking part in a Pay It Forward initiative, where members of the public can purchase tickets to be given to those in the disabled community.

This year, for the first time, there will also be two SUBPAC tactile vests available at the show. When worn, the vests use specialized vibrations to create a physical experience out of the sound, amplifying the live experience and providing a way for the D/deaf community to feel the ebbs and flows of the music.

“Our first installment of Groove Tunes was a wonderful success,” says Dina Bassile, Tibi Access and Groove Tunes founder.  “We’re so excited to do it all again. Last year’s event was everything and more than I expected. We had such a diverse audience, everyone was on the dancefloor, enjoying live and inclusive music.”
