Sublime talent with a touch of good fortune is the short and sweet story of Koi Child, and it all began when electronic hip-hop trio Child’s Play and nujazz quartet Kashikoi decided to get together for an experimental jam night in Fremantle.
A little magic was in the air that night and things went down well enough to catch the ear of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. For the band’s second gig, they warmed up for Tame Impala at Rottnest Island. The relationship between Koi Child and Kevin Parker has continued, with Parker behind the band’s forthcoming selftitled debut (due for release March 18). The band will kick off a small run of shows with a spot at The Karova, Ballarat on March 11.
