Kid Congo Powers Locks in Castlemaine Show

When it was decided that Brian Tristan, a fine name in its own right, just wasn’t rock and roll enough, Kid Congo Powers was born.

Best known as a member of The Gun Club, The Cramps and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Kid Congo Powers’ bright new star is The Pink Monkey Birds. The band toured Australia at the beginning of 2015 and took in Melbourne as their only Victorian show.

This time around they’ll get warm and cosy with Castlemaine. La Araña Es La Vida is the group’s fourth album. The album is a reference to Mexican folklore, that of ‘The Great Spider Goddess of Teotihuacán’ who “sprouts hallucinogenic morning glories and protects the underworld”.

The Bridge Hotel, Castlemaine– August 24.
