Blues Rock Funk songwriter and renowned guitarist Kevin Borich spent 2019 writing new music specifically aimed at recording tracks for a “Duets” album with his favourite peers in Australian.
The inaugural song leading this series of releases, mostly due throughout 2020, is titled “Call a Friend” and features the effervescent vocals of Russell Morris singing tag-team style with Kevin.
His music history reads like a who’s who of Australian music since the early 1970s when he came across the ditch. Getting partners for the duets album will not be a problem.
Call A Friend is all about loss of communication with those friends that have traversed your life, but you lose communication with, and too many times, time too late, or you find out those friends are not traveling so well.
I don’t think there has ever been a timelier song. It’s all about staying in touch, especially with friends that could really do with some supportive contact, and COVID-19 is really going to ramp up the numbers.
Starting the first of the duets with Russell Morris is a great move. The song is well written, and the two voices blend as only long-standing mates can do.
This is a great project, and I’ll be looking forward to the finalised work.
