As an event that has fostered a reputation for turning some of the city’s most iconic spaces into immersive hubs of music, arts and culture, Melbourne Music Week continues to thrive year after year – and this year was no exception.
With so many gigs on, it was impossible to get to them all but we thought we’d get involved and send our esteemed photographer Joshua Braybrook to capture some of the magic that is MMW 2019.
Check it out below.
Stonefield + Body Type @ Kibuk, November 18
The Findlay sisters – Stonefield – took to the stage with their psychedelic rock, followed by Body Type with their indie garage rock sound and plenty of energy.
DAF + Total Control @ Melbourne Town Hall, November 17
Dubbed the ‘Godfathers of Techno’, legendary German duo DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) made their Australian debut with their influence spanning a broad sonic spectrum still found in dance music today. Joining them saw the sometimes brutal, sometimes charming brand of garage punk, Total Control broadening their sound palette with the addition of the Grand Organ to their legendary oeuvre.
