Serenity in the Stadium is a unique experience, connecting the community through spreading awareness about the importance of mental health and physical activity. Led by Sally Ferriss of Wonder Yoga, the one-hour yoga session is the perfect way to kickstart World Mental Health Day.
World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. As first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, 150 countries now celebrate the important annual day of recognition through campaigns and events like Serenity in the Stadium, aiming to open conversations, and take action towards becoming more inclusive and aware of mental health issues.
This years theme tackles workplace culture and the need for ongoing policy, training and reframing of mental health within the workplace. ‘It is Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace’ promotes healthier workplace practices, encouraging workplaces around the world to engage in efforts to prioritise mental health not just on World Mental Health Day but all year around.
As such, Serenity in the Stadium is encouraging workplaces to get involved in the event and connect with the wider community to uplift each other in a supportive environment. And what a space to achieve that tranquillity; on the picturesque grounds of the GMHBA stadium.
A collaboration between local charities Read the Play and Active Geelong, all proceeds will go to supporting their work in the community.
