Heralded by Alice Cooper as “One of the last great rock and roll bands was a band[s]” to Music Feeds the band unfortunately announced they were no more on March 26, 2012 via Facebook.
The message read: “A Message To Our Fans: After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group. From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight.”
Now more than four years later, the band will be reuniting to perform a series of shows for the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Australian and New Zealand shows.
Jet were known and loved for penning such hits as ‘Cold Hard Bitch’ and ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’. Bass guitarist Mark Wilson is also from Geelong, with Nic Cester, Cameron Muncey and Chris Cester making up the rest of the band.
As for the longevity of the reformation or whether there’ll be new recordings, it’s still unclear.
The tour sees Jet perform shows at AAMI Park in Melbourne on February 2 and Hanging Rock on February 11. Tickets are on sale Friday, September 23.
