If anything is clear right now, it’s that crowdfunding is vital to getting live music back up and running
We know Geelong born and raised pianist and vocalist Izzy Losi from touring around Victoria as a part of Izzy Losi and the Auracles but now Losi is ready to take on a new and exciting solo project, re-establishing herself as a front woman to watch and reembracing the Victorian music scene.
Campaigning on Pozible, Losi has “been wanting to do it for over two years, but it’s truly been tougher than I thought. Usually, money I make through music, e.g gigs helps pay for things. That hasn’t been happening.”
Losi knows how to work a crowd and she is no debutant to the Australian music scene. She’s shared the stage with Thirsty Merc, Peirce Brothers, Chris Wilson, Mia Dyson, Did-diri, Maddi Jane, and Husky to name a few. The pianist has lyrical wisdom and haunting melodies beyond her years. She is set to play at this year’s Great Australian Beer Festival which is set for Saturday, April 2nd in Geelong.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated challenges, the Geelong raised performer has not been able to release any new music since her 2017 EP ‘The Only Constant is Change’ (successfully crowdfunded via Pozible in 2015) her single, ‘Change’ shot to number 1 on the overall triple j unearthed charts in March of that year. After gigging extensively in Melbourne throughout 2019 and having just finished working with Eskimo Joe’s Joel Quartermain (Meg Mac, G-Flip) during the winter, Izzy was preparing to tick off her bucket list dream of basing herself in Europe. Fast forward to 2021 and it dawned on her that success, in her eyes was simply creating relationships with like-minded creatives and getting music out, rather than fulfilling ‘industry- pushed-perfectionism’.
All the music for her return after her five-year hiatus is already recorded and mastered, what Losi needs from us is the crowdfunding to rebrand, find a music publicist, get merch out and potentially even a music video. All things we want to see from Losi in 2022.
Crowdfunding is imperative to artists and creatives in order to further themselves in a difficult industry. It is the support from devoted fans that add to the artistic vibrancy of Victoria and it is especially apparent within regional areas of Victoria.

Streaming and digital services have changed the way we consume music. And on top of that, artists are still having gigs cancelled either by venues and capacity limits or for the artists own health and safety. Losi has felt the brunt of this and is ready to start on a clean slate.
Losi’s Pozible page is an all or nothing crowdfunding for $4500 by March 12th. All or nothing meaning, if she doesn’t reach her goal she won’t get any pledged funds and you won’t be charged. Losi also acknowledges that in these difficult times, sometimes donating is not an option but it only takes a few seconds to share her story and spread the word around your community and that is more than enough to Losi.
Crowdfunding is and always will be the heart pumping the blood for local artists. Through support such as buying physical copies of albums, merch and attending shows we can keep the regional music scene alive in Victoria.
