Geelong volunteer youth committee FReeZA is calling for bands to battle it out with their instruments on the stage for the upcoming music showdown, 2024 Geelong Battle of The Bands.

Run through the FReeZA program, a youth based volunteer committee based on a participation model where young people lead the planning, development and delivery of music, cultural and recreational events in their local community, the upcoming 2024 Geelong Battle of the Bands is targeted at youth bands. At least one band member must live, work, play or study in Geelong and all members must be 12-25 years-old.
A rite of passage for all emerging bands, the Battle of the Bands competition is not only the ultimate resume booster for the winning act, but a chance to showcase your music to the judging panel made up of industry professionals, along with gaining exposure to new audiences outside of your loyal friend groups. Whilst the winning prize is yet to be announced, it’s sure to be something enticing to boost your band into the next stage of career.
Years past have seen the likes of King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard, Magic Dirt and The Vasco Era come up through the stepping stone competitive gig in the Geelong region and you could be next to experience their level of success.
With limited spots in the expression of interest phase, only the best of the region will go through to the final showdown taking place at Geelong’s home of rock ‘n’ roll, The Barwon Club on Saturday 26 October. Don’t miss your chance to shine!
