The Track Troop: Don't Give Up The Chip by Darcy Gaynor is out today via Morpheus Publishing.

Just in time for Christmas, Morpheus Publishing has today launched action-packed and hilarious children’s book The Track Troop: Don’t Give Up The Chip by local creative Darcy Gaynor.

The Track Troop: Don’t Give Up The Chip is the first published story from Darcy Gaynor, an Inverleigh-based author, actor, artist, YouTuber and disability advocate. It is the first in what Gaynor hopes to be a series of children’s books, all written and illustrated by Gaynor.

Stay up to date with what’s happening within the region’s art scene here.

The Track Troop: Don’t Give Up The Chip explores an unlikely friendship forged between Daggy Dingo, Koey Koala and Plash Platypus as they investigate a robbery.

The synopsis reads, “When Professor Manjay Magpie’s groundbreaking microchip is stolen by the sneaky Nab Rat, chaos erupts in Greenwood Hills. Enter the Track Troop—Koey Koala and Plash Platypus—wild bush rangers with a knack for catching crooks.

“But this time, they’re up against more than just the usual villains.

“Joined by the bumbling but big-hearted Daggy Dingo and his determined daughter, Deena, the Track Troop must chase the Nab Rat through winding bush trails, daring escapes, and unexpected mishaps.

“Will they recover the stolen microchip, save the day, and prove that even the unlikeliest heroes have their moment to shine?

“Packed with humour, suspense, and heartwarming moments, this thrilling tale will keep kids on the edge of their seats—and inspire them to never give up, no matter the odds!

“Join the adventure with the Track Troop—where teamwork, courage, and a touch of dingo magic save the day!”

The children’s book is available both for digital download on Kindle via Amazon and in paperback format – the perfect stocking filler for the festive season.

The launch of The Track Troop: Don’t Give Up The Chip follows on from an exciting year for Darcy Gaynor who was this month recognised for his contribution to disability support and services, receiving a nomination at the 2024 Geelong Awards for People with Disability.

Living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and battling autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Gaynor has channelled his advocacy for those living with a disability through his own arts practices. In 2023, Gaynor launched a YouTube series titled Unique Equality to shed light on his own condition, whilst also interviewing others with disabilities to raise awareness for the breadth of conditions considered under the disability banner. The series see Gaynor and the interviewee dive into each individual condition, unpacking the barriers, impacts and unique opportunities living with a disability presents.

Gaynor was on the other end of the interview table this month, interviewed by fellow disability advocate and Geelong Awards for People with Disability recipient, Leanne Watson, for her weekly segment on The Pulse, Rolling Through Wednesday, which dives into inclusivity, community and accessibility.

Darcy Gaynor also supports a disability-led acting class through Screen Actors as one of the long-term students of the institution. Gaynor, himself, has a colourful acting resume, having appeared as an extra on Australian television drama series Wentworth, and psychological drama Nitram, Fires and in adverts. That’s in addition to his rich portfolio of painting projects, with works having been exhibited at galleries across the region including Platform Arts.
