The newest conference focusing on the future of music.
Promising to be one of the most invaluable events for emerging artists and musicians this year, the inaugural Indie Musician Summit is bringing together great minds from varied facets of the music community for three days this November.
Thought up by the collaborative brains at Melbourne based Westwood Management and the Virtual Music Manager, the virtual conference has been put together specifically for independent musicians and artists who are in the first few years of pursuing music as a career. Singer-songwriter and Westwood Management founder, Kate Westwood, leads the charge emboldened and more focused than ever on creating something unique and accessible in the Australian music calendar.
Across three days, the Indie Musician Summit will round up more than 25 of the industry’s most well-established musicians and industry-folk, as well as some of the most exciting up and comers, to allow emerging musicians to learn more about three core areas of the music industry. Day one will focus on ‘Audience Building’, day two will centre around ‘Creative Development’ and day three will be all about ‘Business Building’.
Confirmed speakers so far include the likes of Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap) manager Andrew Khedoori; 89.9 LightFM music director Cam Want; The Real Songwriters of Melbourne founder Jena Marino; The Songbird Tree’s Kerri Ho; and Pozible Campaign manager Ned Dorman, among others.
Participants will also have the privilege of being coached by some of the industry’s most gifted musicians including Boy & Bear’s drummer Tim Hart, Anna Furlong, Chynna Taylor, Craig Williams, Cristian Campano, Isobel Anderson, and English singer and songwriter Karen Harding.
Each day of the summit, the speakers and artist performance videos will go live on the summit page and be available to watch on-demand by attendees for 24 hours. At 9am the next day, those videos will be removed and the next day’s videos will be released.
There’s also the scope for attendees to join a private Facebook group to network with other attendees, speakers and the host and build a community ahead of the summit.
Bringing together the best insight, experience, skills and knowledge from industry champions, the summit’s core focus is about supporting and inspiring indie artists and musicians in the growing and development of their music career.
Completely free, easy to access and all online, Indie Musician Summit will begin to light a path for the future of the music industry and is an opportunity not to be passed by.
