Set to release their second studio album On The Wall In The Morning Light, next week, Great Gable has announced a national tour for this October and November, joined by special guests Dice + Velvet Bloom.

On The Wall In The Morning Light is a record brimming with youthful exuberance balanced by a confidence that comes with experience, a new level of sophistication not at the expense of f.u.n. – it’s Great Gable’s propulsively rhythmic, evocative guitar-driven rock’n’roll enriched with experience. The album features the exuberant new single Dancing Shoes, which they performed earlier this month on triple j like a version, alongside their resplendent cover of Owl City’s Fireflies; and recent singles Hazy, Another Day and Our Love.

The band – comprising Alex Whiteman (vocals), Matt Preen (guitar), Callum Guy (drums) and Christopher Bye (bass) – worked separately during lockdown and together in between, and arrived at Matt Corby’s newly minted Rainbow Valley Studios to record their second album. With Corby and Alex Henriksson in the producer’s chairs there was a welcome familiarity to the process and with Corby very literally in his element and the band living and working on site for close to a month, the process of recording was fluid. Recording the new material from scratch, the band aimed to retain an elegant simplicity to the more direct and potent batch of songs, with guitars purposely brought to the fore.

Great Gable’s success has been years in the making, fuelled by a non-stop flow of new material and relentless touring. With a fervent, die-hard fanbase, and renowned for their mesmerising and commanding live performance, they’ve supported the likes of Ocean Alley, The Jungle Giants, Thelma Plum and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and performed festival sets at Groovin The Moo, Falls Festival, SOTA Fest and Wave Rock Weekender amongst numerous sold-out tours.

Fans of Spacey Jane, Death By Denim and Holy Holy will love these guys!
