I’m a Little Bit Country

We’re around a week away from the Mildura Country Music Festival, so dust off the ol’ boots and get all the details you need to know. Ranked alongside Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Gympie Muster as one of the big three, the festival welcomes some 80 performances across a 10-day stretch.
What separates this festival from others, however, is its focus on independent artists, the highlight being Southern Stars – The Australian Independent Country Music Awards. Previous winners and finalists include Felicity Urquhart, Darren Coggan, Travis Sinclair, Drew McAlister and Carter & Carter, who have gone on to win Golden Guitars. Other performers in 2015 include Wayne Horsburgh, Laura Downing, Rodney Vincent, Johanna Hemara, Reg Poole, Tom Maxwell, Don Costa, Owen Blundell, Terry Gordon, Justin Standley, Amber Joy Poulton, The Bobkatz and Terry Gordon. Virtually all the entertainment is free, with the majority of shows being multi-artist concerts. The length of the festival makes life a lot easier, too. If you miss a performance, chances are you can catch it later in the festival. Celebrating its 29th outing, the Mildura Country Music Festival takes place from September 25 to October 4.
