Addressing the issue of accessibility to tickets during a time of economic downturn and festival cancellations, Hotter Than Hell are providing this rocking entertainment for a steal at $85, touring major names to five locations in Australia. Starting in Western Australia on Saturday 12 October with Regurgitator, Unwritten Law, Jebediah, Little Birdy and The Kickons, Hotter Than Hell will tour to Mt Evelyn in Victoria on Saturday 19 October, Gepps Cross South Australia for Saturday 26 October, Townsville Queensland on Saturday 2 November and wrap up in Brisbane on Sunday 3 November.
Having just taken flight around the country for their Invader tour, Regurgitator are the perfect headline for the rock show. Forming in Brisbane in the early 90s, the group have gone on to take home multiple ARIA Awards, tour the globe across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, playing with Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Prodigy and Silverchair, and obliterate festival stages, from the iconic days of Big Day Out through to their recent appearance as part of 2022’s Good Things Festival. Armed with ten studio albums under the Regurgitator moniker, including their groundbreaking 1996 debut album Tu-Plang, seminal soarer Unit which brought us ‘! (The Song Formerly Known As)’ and ‘Polyester Girl’, through to their recent 2024 opus Invader, Regurgitator remain a cultural force to be reckoned with.
US ska rockers Less Than Jake will jet across playing the South Australian and Queensland shows, unleashing their catalogue of nine studio albums onto ready rockers, whilst fellow US names, punk mainstays Unwritten Law will pop up exclusively for the Western Australia and Victoria shows.
Another band who has also continued a lengthy career in the Australian music scene, releasing an album and touring this year is Jebediah. The Leaving Home writers found their lane in the Australian music industry in the 90’s and have maintained a front on the scene, albeit with some hiatuses. Their return with OIKS this year saw the band reignite their live flame just in time for Hotter Than Hell.
The celebration continues as Hotter Than Hell marks the first time Little Birdy will set foot back on stage in well over a decade. As frontwoman Katy Steele has continued a successful career as a solo artist, the life of Little Birdy cannot be overlooked with their three albums, 2004’s BigBigLove, 2006’s Hollywood, and 2009’s Confetti, five ARIA Award nominations, and tours with R.E.M and onstage at Falls Festival, Big Day Out and Great Escape Festival. Their single ‘Relapse’, ‘Beautiful to Me’, ‘Tonight’s the Night’, ‘Come On Come On’ and ‘Bodies’ stamped onto the airwaves with grit and gusto that has continued to impact.
A fellow female rocker of a similar vein is Adalita. From her Magic Dirt fronting days to her acclaimed solo career, Adalita is a mainstay to her rock roots and one hell of an addition to the Hotter Than Hell lineup.
‘Party Machines’ The Bennies and Perth indie rockers The Kickons round out the lineup, both bringing their infectious energy to the front.
