The Clearing, an eight-part psychological thriller, stands out with nominations for Best Miniseries, Best Costume Design in Television (Episode 1), and Best Sound in Television (Episode 1), recognising the outstanding work of Erin Roche, Roger van Wensveen, David Williams, and Ralph Ortner. Adding to the accolades, the star-studded cast received individual nods, with Teresa Palmer and Guy Pearce nominated for Best Lead Actress and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, respectively.

This gripping series, debuting on Disney+ under the Star banner in May 2023, explores the darkness of real-life cults in Australia and around the world, based on J.P. Pomare’s best-selling crime thriller, In The Clearing. The show garnered attention not only locally but also internationally, ranking among the most-viewed Originals on Hulu in the US within its first month.

Filmed across Victoria, The Clearing was produced by Wooden Horse, with Jude Troy, Richard Finlayson, and Elizabeth Bradley serving as executive producers. The success of this series underscores the global appeal and export potential of Australian storytelling.

Meanwhile, the uplifting and intimate docuseries Matildas: The World at Our Feet received nominations for Best Documentary or Factual Program and Best Direction in Nonfiction Television (Episode 2), recognising the exceptional work of director Katie Bender Wynn.

Premiering on Disney+ in April 2023, the six-part series delves into the inspiring journey of Australia’s women’s national football team, the Matildas, as they aim for glory in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. The series unveils the sacrifices and struggles of players like Sam Kerr, Ellie Carpenter, and Mary Fowler on their quest to excel in the world’s most popular sport.

Produced by Barking Mad Productions and Station 10 Media in collaboration with Fremantle and Boardwalk Pictures, Matildas: The World at Our Feet showcases the dedication and resilience of the athletes. Executive producers Steve Bibb and Christopher G Cowen, along with Co-Executive Producer David Briegel-Jones, played crucial roles in bringing this empowering series to life.

Both The Clearing and Matildas: The World at Our Feet, alongside other Australian Originals like the latest scripted series The Artful Dodger, are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
