Hollow Ground

We spoke to Dylan (Vocals & Guitar) and Nick (Lead guitar) from Hollow Ground.
Hi Guys, thanks so much for taking the time to chat to Forte, what have you been up to?
Lately we’ve just been writing new music and playing a few shows in Melbourne, Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula. After the completion of our first E.P we’ve been focusing on just trying to play as many shows as we can and get our music out there for you all to hear!
How long has Hollow Ground been together and how did it come about?
Hollow Ground formed at the end of September back in 2013. We have been playing music together in bands for around 5 years now and it was last year we decided we wanted a new band with a new sound. We convinced our long time friend Ryan Birse to join the band on Bass Guitar and after a long hard search we found Corey Mole to get behind the drums. Both of them bringing their own unique style to the band.
How would you describe your music and who are some of your major influences?
Our Sound is an energetic blend between grunge & rock ‘n’ roll and we pride ourselves on a killer live show. We have been told that our recent E.P is influenced by early Silverchair and Smashing Pumpkins but with our own sound.
How did the recording of the EP go and what are you most excited for people to hear?
We had a blast staying up in Melbourne and recording with Andy Simpson at Salt Studios, Andy really helped bring out the best in us and we are very thankful. We are most excited for people to here the 3rd track on the E.P “My Trendkill” we feel this was the song that captured our sound and attitude the best.
The EP Launch is coming up on the 31st October, AKA Halloween, what can fans expect from this show?
Our Halloween E.P Launch is shaping up to be a big event with some great bands playing. Everyone is going to be coming dressed up in the Halloween spirit because the whole show is being filmed for our first music video for our single “This One’s For Harri” We are super excited to see everyone down there and we hope everyone has a killer night!
From here what are you future tour/ recording plans?
We plan to play at as many places as we can and really get ourselves out there for the next 6-12 months. Live shows are our passion and we want to play to as many people as possible. We’re planning on getting back up to Melbourne sometime next year to record the new songs we are writing at the moment.
When&Where: The Barwon Club Hotel, Geelong- Friday 31st October, 8pm
