Have you ever wanted to treat yourself to a proper, formal High Tea? There are plenty of amazing venues to choose from in and around the Geelong area that serve up delicious cakes, scones, sandwiches and hot tea – or, champagne and mimosas!

If sandwiches, scones and a selection of cakes and cheeses sounds like your dream day, then these high tea events in and around Geelong might be for you.

Van Loons Café

Van Loons Café is serving up a high tea experience like no other. Picture mini quiches, sandwiches, scones, macarons and a selection of sweet cakes and tarts there is sure to be something for everyone.

Now available every day of the week, High Tea here is just $90 per person and will see you begin your indulgence with an arrival drink – a house-made cocktail, mocktail or sparkling wine while dining on a tower of savoury delights and sweet treats, finish with barista made coffee or tea.

Whether it’s sweet or savoury you’re after, Van Loons Café has you covered with their high tea. And better still, kids can be catered for too.

Sandstone & Co

High tea is what Sandstone & co do best. With three tiers of delicious sweet and savory treats, from sandwiches and jam and cream scones to a bunch of sweet delights, all to be washed down with a glass of champagne on arrival, pink lemonade and an enviable selection of teas. This whole experience is only further elevated with gorgeous rose gold stands, vintage china and crisp white table clothes.

Flying Brick Cider Co.

Flying Brick Cider Co. in Wallington is offering up another twist on the classic high tea. They’ve made the humble combination of those delicate pastry stands with cute little decorations and people with the pinkies up with hard-core oozing goodness that is: cheese. That’s right, high cheese.

Available Monday to Friday, you can score a selection of cheese with crackers and bread, accompanied with your choice of tea and coffee, wine or cocktail jug. Everything on the menu looks Mozzer-hella good including Roquefort soufflé with apple butter, baked baby camembert (gf), quince paste & walnut crackers (gfa), swiss Gruyere Gourgeres and some sweet options like white Chocolate Ricotta Mousse (gf) with fresh berries and langues du chat, hung sheep’s milk labne, local honey and some Ket baker sourdough. Plus, free-flowing Julius Meinl barista coffee and hot chocolate and LOVE Tea loose leaf infusions of choice.

With options ranging from $60, $75 and $90 for two with the higher two options including alcohol, High Cheese is set to be something cheese and wine lovers can’t miss.

Campbell Point House

If traditional high tea is more your speed, Campbell Point House is not to be missed.

Located on the Bellarine, this enormous French chateau sits regally on the shores of Lake Connewarre surrounded by 14ha of perfectly manicured French-inspired gardens, providing the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of high tea.

Here you’ll find sweet selections including lemon tarts, flavoured macaroons, Chantilly-filled profiteroles, Turkish delights and homemade chocolate, as well as scones with pure cream and locally sourced jam and a massive selection of tea sandwiches. From cold smoked salmon and truffled eggs to roasted chicken and cucumber, this place is all about tradition.

Drinks can also be added on, with cocktails including a Pimms cup, Aperol Spritz and Champagne cocktail, while a selection of loose leaf tea comes complimentary.

High tea is available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 2pm and 4pm and is $69 per head. Group high teas can be made available by appointment.

Searoad Ferries

Be a little naughty with a whole lot of nice with Searoad Ferries’ ‘high tea on the high sea’ for all the sailing enthusiasts out there.

The tiers are filled with fresh finger sandwiches, puffy pastries and tasty tarts, alongside an audacious selection of moreish macarons, sweet slices and scrumptious scones that will take all the right turns on your path to feeling pampered. With boujee bubbles to wash everything down with, this one is a high tea like no other, and is set to be an unmissable experience.

High Tea on the High Seas runs on Sundays, departing Queenscliff at 2pm and Sorrento at 3pm. For $55 per person, the price include a welcome drink on arrival, tiered platter of sweet and savoury items using regional produce, Tea or Coffee and of course a two-hour return bay sail

The Continental Sorrento

Speaking of the ferry, if you feel like indulging in an opulent high tea affair with a short trip to Sorrento, The Continental Sorrento is now running a new High Tea offering curated by Scott Pickett. As a young chef in France, Pickett worked with some of the best pastry chefs in the world, indulging his passions by mastering the art of macarons and choux pastry. Upon returning to Melbourne, he began work at the Windsor Hotel which offered its first High Tea in 1883, making it the longest-running and most iconic High Tea in Melbourne – so you know it’s going to be good. 

Guests can expect classic favourites such as fresh scones served with house-made marmalade and cream, whilst the rest of the menu will rotate weekly. Think a collection of indulgent and inventive bites such as Pavlova with lemon myrtle meringue, lemon Chantilly, blueberry jam, fresh blueberry; Smoked salmon, cream cheese, finger lime, soft herbs, bagel; Apple rhubarb and ginger trifle with crumble, ginger compote, vanilla creme diplomats; Spanner crab croissant, tarragon, shallot, lemon crème fraiche; Choux pastry, green tea cream, yuzu Chantilly; Mushroom chive vol-au-vent, shimeji mushroom à la grecque; Coconut cassis finger with coconut sponge, cassis cream, coconut whipped ganache; and Croissant of San Daniele prosciutto, Comté cheese, French mustard

Diners can choose from a premium selection of teas by Yugen or opt to pop a bottle of Taittinger Brut Champagne.

With its soaring glass ceiling and lush green-house interior landscaping, The Atrium is a timeless, conservatory-style dining space welcoming guests with elegance, grandeur and spirit of a by-gone era, into the heart of The Continental Sorrento.

High Tea runs every Sunday with sessions 12-2pm, 2:30-5pm (Please note, bookings for the second sitting will open once the first sitting is at or close to capacity). It’s $75pp, inclusive of food, tea and a glass of sparkling.

Werribee Mansion

If you don’t mind hitting the road for a short drive, Mansion SocieTEA: High Tea in Werribee is certainly one to consider with its fluffy scones, picture-perfect pastries and Mansion views.

Running every Sunday afternoon at the Lancemore Mansion Hotel Werribee Park, guests are treated to a lavish spread of sweet and savoury delicacies overlooking the magnificent gardens of Werribee Park.

From the grandeur of the Mansion itself to those rolling green lawns and beautiful gardens, this is simply a place that feels made for indulgent afternoons of tea and scones, perfect pastries and a long, tall glass of something delicious.

Bookings are essential, and sittings occur every Sunday at 12:30pm for $85 per person including a glass of Mumm Champagne, with children priced at $55.

Whether it is simply tea for two or an afternoon of frivolity for a group of your friends, this certainly has all the trimmings of a truly opulent afternoon.

Fork N Flower

What started as an idea among friends quickly developed into a busy-bubbly Café that focuses on serving delicious, inspired food, amazing coffee, and friendly service with a smile. Fork N Flower has a beautiful vibe, making it the perfect destination for your next high tea.

While they don’t run regularly (you need to keep your eyes on their socials for upcoming dates), when they do they know how to make it count.

A high tea here will usually run on Sundays from 2:45pm – 4:30 pm, providing an afternoon of sweet delights! Past high teas have seen guests begin with a glass of Oakdene bubbly on arrival, followed by a selection of traditional High Tea sweet and savoury treats, all made in-house and includes popular buttermilk scones served with Beerenberg raspberry jam. Guests will then finish with coffee or tea – for just $49 per person.
