Here are some of Geelong’s ultimate gut-busting food challenges

We hope you’re hungry!

Is there really anything better than a pimped up, supersized and largely ridiculous version of your favourite meal?

We don’t think so. We love a good old stomach-busting eating challenge here at Forte, and lucky for us, Geelong’s food scene is just brimming with creative and entirely epic eating challenges.

Let’s conquer!

Blackman’s Brewery’s ‘incredible hulk’ burger challenge

Cancel your Friday plans because we have a burger challenge like no other. Blackman’s Brewery Burger Bar in Ocean Grove is dishing up the world’s largest (surely?) burger with their Incredible Hulk challenge burger.

Channelling the Hulk’s size, colour and ability to pack a massive punch, this absolute monster burger is jam-packed with six(ish) beef patties, grilled cheese, bacon, southern fried chicken, and house mac sauce, standing two BB cans high. Yes, we’re serious. We’re not sure about salads but judging from the picture the brewery posted we’re going to assume not. It is packed between a delicious homemade green bun though.

A true test of one’s burger obsession, if you conquer the beast in under 30 minutes then you get it for free, plus you make it into the Brewery’s hall of fame!
So far, there’s only one person to complete the challenge, demolishing the burger in just over 11 minutes.

Wrap your lips around this bad boy, stat.

The Deck’s 1kg Parmi

Going down every Wednesday, The Deck are throwing down a gastronomical gauntlet to Geelong foodies with its new one-kilogram Parmi Challenge.

Served up on a huge silver platter, the challenge is to finish the 1kg parmi (or parma if you roll that way) loaded with cheese, ham and plenty of napoli sauce, a side of chips and salad in the quickest time possible on the night. The monster will be available on Wednesday nights and set you back just $35, and there are pub vouchers up for grabs for those that take out the title on the night.

Currently, the record is sitting with a fella named Francis with a time of six minutes and 54 seconds… just wow. It’s Man VS Food at its very best.

Call 5229 5504 to give it a shot and eat yourself into oblivion, walk-ins welcome.

Where: 2-4 Gheringhap Street, Geelong.

Sethro’s BBQ Burrito

While not a formal challenge as such, this baby is certainly a lot to handle thanks to the team at Sethro’s BBQ, a place is renowned around town for its mouth-watering meaty American-style BBQ. And it’s the real deal kind of BBQ, using real pits to make some of the absolute best-smoked meats in Geelong.

Loaded with housemade Mac N Cheese, Texas Brisket and housemade sausage all tucked in a flour tortilla, this is the burrito of all burritos. And it’s just $20.

You better be hungry if you want this one!! They’ve also got a pretty damn tasty apple pie cheesecake taco if you feel like dessert.

Unlimited Chicken Wings

Another Deck challenge, this one is definitely a value for money type of vibe.

Every Monday night, The Deck are going all out with the return of their wings special – unlimited wings and coke for $19 until they’re either sold out or you can’t eat anymore. UNLIMITED. WINGS AND COKE… Let that sink in.

The current record remains at 200 wings demolished in a time of 42 minutes and 55 seconds. Mmmmm, ain’t no thing like a chicken wing. All that’s left for you to do now is round up a small crew and book a table asap. Call 5229-5504 to book your seat or shoot them a message on Facebook.

All-you-can-eat bao

Courtesy of the funky, fun and fresh foodie joint Wah Bah, Geelong’s been blessed with a recurring event each month: bottomless bao and cocktails.

Having had their first few events already, they’ve got another date on Saturday, July 3 (with more dates to come), where the Bah will be serving up the bottomless feast for two-hour slots for four people at 12pm or 3pm.

For $60 each, you can graze your way through a free-flowing feed of their forever loved Bao Buns and unlimited punch bowls. Sounds easy right? Bottomless buns, woo. But, have you ever tried to eat more than the usual three of these bad boys? It’s a filling dish, which is why we’ve called this one a challenge!

You’ve only got two hours to load up on as many bao and punch bowls as you can. Good luck.

One from the archives: Launch Espresso’s 21 Black Jack Stacker Burger Challenge

This one’s no longer on offer but we had to just remind you all that this existed in Geelong for a period of time. Made up the peeps at Launch Espresso in Westfield – the part-owners of Boss Burger Co – this burger challenge was made up of 21 burger patties, 21 slices of cheese and 10 rashers of bacon. It was $75 a pop, weighed 3.2kg and you had 45 minutes to eat it.

If anyone completed this challenge, we bow down to you.

Bring it back?
