Rose Bygrave could be considered a member of Australian “music royalty”. Rose was born at Willaura, and attended high school in Ballarat. Her professional music career started with the band Salty Dogs and later The Goanna Band as a keyboardist, singer and songwriter.
Goanna’s debut album, Spirit of Place, won the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Best Album of the Year award in 1982, with “Solid Rock” winning Best Single of the Year. They also won the Best New Band category. Her songwriting debut on that album was a haunting ballad called “On the Platform”; the ‘B’ side to the single “Solid Rock”.
Since those days she has collaborated with many prominent musicians and a major focus of her work has been with indigenous communities.
Rose will entertain and inform us with anecdotes from her long career and perform some songs too.
