Hayley Mary is just one of the hundreds of Victorian musicians who will bring live performances to the streets of Melbourne as part of the Melbourne leg of the Victorian Government’s On The Road Again initiative.

The unshakable elegance and undeniable talent of Hayley Mary (of The Jezabels) will take to Melbourne’s streets this week, as she performs a live music pop up gig in Melbourne’s CBD as part of the Victorian Government On The Road Again initiative in partnership with the City of Melbourne.

The former Jezabels frontwoman will perform on the forecourt of State Library Victoria from 12om on Thursday, February 24 2022, delivering an exhilarating live spectacle of musical prowess as she strips it all the way back to playing just her and a guitar.

Shedding her Jezabels identity to display herself as a unique solo artist over the past few years, the pop-up gig follows the release of her latest EP, ‘Fall In Love’, which dropped back in November last year. Marking her third solo EP thus far following the release of ‘The Drip’ back in June, ‘Fall In Love’ features five tracks, the majority of which were recorded by DMA’S member Johnny Took as well as Scott Horcroft.

A bona fide persona with no shortage of past achievements, this will be one street performance you won’t want to miss.

Mary joins hundreds of emerging and established Victorian musicians of all styles, genres and sounds who are entertaining and delighting the passing crowds in Melbourne’s CBD, helping enhance the creative atmosphere in the city.

Showcasing the city’s musical diversity with more than 700 street performances over the course of February and March, artists will perform a two-hour set between either 11:30am and 2:30pm or 3:30pm and 6:30pm at numerous locations around the city. You’ll be able to find buskers at the likes of the State Library Steps, Degraves Street, Lygon Street, Collins Place, Flinders Street Station and the Princes Bridge, alongside a slew of street corners across the city.

Alongside the slew of local buskers hitting the streets, the pop-up gigs have been a huge highlight for the city so far. Last week Alice Skye and Kaiit surprised passers-by with their performances, while upcoming gigs include performances from the aforementioned Hayley Mary, Fergus James, Uncle Kutcha Edwards, Gordi, Emma Donovan and Adrian Eagle. Performance details for these gigs will be revealed the day prior via What’s On Melbourne’s Instagram.
