Great news, the legends at Piano Bar have opened their first Melbourne venue in Northcote

Words by Staff Writer

Regional Victorian favourite venue Piano Bar has opened their first Melbourne venue on High Street in Northcote.

Officially opening its doors at the end of this month, Northcote’s new live entertainment destination has wasted no time endearing itself to the locals, announcing a grand opening event featuring Art Simone (fresh from RuPaul’s Drag Con) and Rhonda Burchmore.

Northcote will be Piano Bar’s fifth Victorian destination (with venues in Geelong, Colac, Bendigo, Ballarat) but their first to enter Melbourne’s suburbs, and the surging northside area is an easy choice.

Piano Bar Northcote will host live piano by request on weekends, open mic nights, and its renowned range of drag queen shows including ‘Pitch Please!’ and ‘Bitches with Balls’ bingo nights. The team behind the emerging hospitality empire have been rapidly expanding since 2015, and co-owner Aaron Skinner says their new venue is a dream come true.

“Piano, by request – it’s as uncomplicated as that,” Aaron says. “Grab a request slip from the bar, write down that song you’ve been yearning for and make sure you’ve got your dancing shoes on.

“The response we have had so far has been so fantastic,” Aaron beams. “We’ve had great support and a lot of the local business owners in the area have already become regulars.

“We are really feeling the community vibe that we have created in our other venues being replicated here and can’t wait to see that grow. We are committed to providing the quality entertainment and hospitality that we know our customers deserve and having a great time while we do it.”

Piano Bar Northcote also offers a menu made to share with starters and tapas, a specialty cocktail list, extensive wine list and premium and local beers on offer.

The new venue officially launches on Thursday May 26, but is currently open on Friday and Saturday nights and select Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights.
