As per usual, Golden Plains remains BYO, independent, no commercial sponsors and with one stage.
Golden Plains, one of the most loved events on the Australian festival calendar, is finally back, announcing its return for 2023.
Returning for its 15th iteration and its first event in three years, with the event last held over the Labour Day weekend back in 2020, the festival will go down from March 11th-13th at Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre (where else?) and the ballot to secure tickets is officially open.
The best bits
- Golden Plains Ballot is now open
- There is only one type of ticket available, which gets you in on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
- The festival will be held in March 2023 from 11th – 13th.

“Same shape, BYO, no commercial sponsors, free range camping, the No D—head Policy, One Stage Fits All The Good Stuff. Golden,” Aunty Meredith shared of the festival long-awaited return.
Much like Meredith Music Festival, the great majority of tickets to Golden Plains will be available via the Subscriber Ticket Ballot, before they go on public sale.
If you were already a ticket subscriber, good news: you get to enter the first round of the ballot. If you haven’t yet subscribed, there’s still a chance to do so in order to enter the second round.
Two rounds of ticket offers are made via email to successful applicants; one around mid-October, and then another a week later. Any Subscribers who are unsuccessful in the first round are automatically entered into the second round ballot. It’s simpler than it sounds – and free and easy and quick.
Following two ballot rounds, keen punters still have to chance to buy tickets through the online sales and Aunty’s Last Chance, but let’s be real: you’d be a fool not to enter the ballot.
Tickets will be in the form of wristbands again this year and there is only one type of ticket available, which gets you in on Saturday morning to Monday lunchtime at the event. Which means everyone can come for the full weekend.
No details have been revealed as of yet about who’s on the bill but Aunty Meredith promises a “A panoramic long weekend in the greatest of outdoors. Afternoon all day, sun like honey on the trees, back in the Amphitheatre Supernaturale. Night falls, and giant spikes of excitement send everything everywhere.”
The last Golden Plains festival in 2020 featured the likes of Punk icons Pixies, UK synth-poppers Hot Chip, English-French avant-poppers Stereolab, Australia’s own Sampa The Great and Sleaford Mods, alongside the likes of the Evelyn Champagne King & Mondo Freaks, Bill Callahan, DJ Sprinkles, Weyes Blood, Electric Fields and Parsnip, so expect grand things.
Stay tuned for further details. Until then, The Ballot for Golden Plains XV is now open. Enter via goldenplains.com.au before 10:15pm AEDT, Monday 17 October, 2022, to be in it.
Expect it to be an undoubtedly golden event.
