PJ Harvey

PJ Harvey became a staple songwriter of the 90’s thanks to acclaimed albums Dry (1992) and Rid of Me (1993) but its Polly Jeans musicality that led her onto extraordinary territory. Guitar, saxophone, piano, autoharp, violin, harmonica are all proficiencies, not to mention her impeccable songwriting ability that imprints on the heart. These lyrics led to two books of poetry, two Mercury Prizes and decades of at the forefront of the music scene.

PJ Harvey will be playing the Sunday night headline slot.

Fontaines D.C

Churning and churning since 2014, Dublin post-punks Fontaines D.C have built a strong presence in the music industry which they hit on the head this year with their latest effort Romance. A college band to being Mercury Prize nominated and taking out the title of Brit Award for International Group in 2023, Fontaines D.C have continued to rise.

Fontaines D.C will be joining PJ on the Sunday night.

Durand Jones and the Indications

A textbook example of a band who own their style Durand Jones and the Indications are an American contemporary R&B and soul group who push all of the boundaries of style and songwriting. Known for their energetic live shows and elevated stage presence with two dual singers, they are an unmissable act on any lineup but especially in the magical supernatural amphitheatre.

2ManyDJs

The DJ set for the Belgian electronic act Soulwax is titled 2ManyDJs. The brothers Dewaele knocked the needle right off course in 2002. Sidestepping Soulwax for a DJ double act, they ushered in the DIY blog-house shuffle-down decade with a debut mix so giddy it got everyone hot under the collar, even Bowie. They’re set has already been hailed the mashup of the year and its no word of a lie!

Magdalena Bay

Tongues have been wagging all year about Magdalena Bay. An eclectic blend of hyper pop meets otherworldly meets indie meets art pop meets experimental, the fine folks of Reddit could not get enough of this years album Imaginal Disk. From prog-rock babes to weavers of hyper-real concept glit-pop, they’ve long rattled around the edges and simply cannot be pigeonholed. Bringing a bit of drama kid to the indie world, theirs is a sonic vortex that recalls the familiar, while fishing the future, Magdalena Bay are bound to bring an out of this world experience to Golden Plains.

Osees

Garage rock at its finest and most grimey, California’s Osees are far from the Phantom Planet indie rocking life of Ryan Atwood and Seth Cohen. The late nineties saw them slide into the scene but these lads are just getting started! Their appearance at Golden Plains is 15 years in the damn making! Let’s give it up for them!

Sun Ra Arkestra

Boy oh boy do Golden Plains have something juicy up their sleeve with a set from Sun Ra Arkestra. The American jazz group, who are dubbed as the pioneers for the subgenre afrofuturism, were formed in the mid-1950s and led by keyboardist/composer Sun Ra until his death in 1993. The legacy lives on with the Arkestra feeding from the absorbent energy of the suns rays.

Let’s get the wheels on the Golden Plains wagon rolling for the second round ballot for this delightful lineup offering.
