Head to Central Park to experience a series of newly commissioned installations and feature artworks, illuminating nightly from 15 to 18 June.
Lighten up after dark at the Glow Winter Arts Festival’s magical journey through never-seen-before lighting installations and artworks at historic Central Park in Malvern East.
From Thursday, June 15 to Sunday, June 18, the free Festival returns as a four-night spectacle of immersive light, colour and art, a special live performance and food trucks with tasty snacks.

Around the gardens, you’ll be able to get up close and explore the illuminated artworks, walking in and around the installations and new awe-inspiring artworks from acclaimed Australian artists and witness an intriguing performance inside a conservatory.
The eye-catching illuminated installations heading to Glow are:
- ESCAPE TO THE ALPS – a fantastical journey to a neon alpine forest with breathtaking scenery. A winter wonderland for the imaginatively adventurous – ski the slopes, ride a toboggan, play with a giant Snowman and lots more. The debut light art activation for the creative team at Volter International.
- MONSTERS LOVE YOU…BUT MIGHT EAT YOU – a huge, colourful, inflatable artwork that explores human beings’ joyous and powerful spirit while asking us to stop hiding in our crevices and celebrate what makes us different. From Maurice Goldberg, originally created by Goldberg Aberline Studio.
- CONSERVATORY – an extraordinary live performance that reflects absence and presence, playfully revealing and obscuring moments of loneliness and joy in the life of a solitary character, who lives within a plant-filled biosphere. The installation affirms the threads of interconnectedness between human beings and the rapidly changing world in which we live Co-created by Melinda Hetzel & Co. and Niow.
- TREE MAN – a glowing beacon of inflatable light this sculpture highlights the importance of humans connecting with and nurturing the environment. Referencing the glowing lights of our devices, it is a response to our digital-driven culture – a notion encapsulated visually through the sculpture’s screen-shaped head. From ENESS, a multi-award-winning art and technology studio, led by artist Nimrod Weis.
- GLITTERING NIGHT – “A place, in the back of one’s mind, that was dreamt of when the moon was full and the stars sung in harmony. It gently sings and sways and asks us to consider what it is and why it has re-emerged in winter”. From Skunk Control.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy warming hot chocolate and delicious snacks while being immersed in the art, with food trucks on-site and local businesses from surrounding precincts offering Festival goers tasty refreshments on their journey to and from the event.
