Grab your pals or your pooch and run to these local cafes this weekend for your next brunch fix

Who doesn’t love a good brunch!? Whether it’s a Sunday brunch after a big night out or a place to impress your next tinder date Geelong has you covered for some of the best brunch spots in the area. Cure those winter blues by grabbing your pals and heading to these spots that are slinging coffees and good food all week long.

Pakington Pantry

Pakington Pantry has cemented itself as a staple within the Geelong brunch scene. Wave goodbye to those winter blues with hearty menu options such as the ancient grains porridge, shakshuka eggs, chai French toast or of course the ever-faithful chilli scramble. There’s lemon curd filled ricotta pancakes for the sweet tooths and an aptly named the hangover wrap if you’re feeling a bit under the weather for Sunday brunch. If breakfast food isn’t your thing, never fear, fried chicken burgers, BLT’s and pork belly bao buns also grace the extensive lunch menu. With heaps of vego, vegan and gluten free options Pakington Pantry is sure to have you covered when it comes to Sunday brunchin.

Winters

Another little gem on Pakington Street is Winters Café. Their menu comes equipped with a local, seasonal focus meaning you’re always going to get the best locally sourced ingredients Geelong has to offer. There all day menu consists of eggs benedict fit out with pulled pork hash, chipotle crema and taco crumb, waffles with panna cotta and seasonal fruits or if you’re after something. A bit bigger perhaps the chilli calamari or crispy chicken burger will take your fancy. You can get your fix at Winters from 8am 7 days a week meaning you don’t have to save brunch for Sundays.

Kyosk

Kyosk Café is in Ocean Grove and is dedicated to serving up delicious food and coffee from 7am-4pm every day. Dine in for a hearty brunch or grab a coffee to go from the walk-up coffee window. Kyosk serves up several healthy, fresh brunch options including an Asian style brekkie bowl, okonomiyaki and black rice porridge for the cooler months. You can also grab something off their extensive lunch menu from 12 featuring middle eastern nourish bowls, marinated tofu bao buns or a grilled chicken banh mi. Kyosk also offers a whole heap of vego and vegan options to ensure no one misses out on a cheeky brunch sesh.

What’s even better than Sunday brunch you ask? Sunday brunch in the company of your pooch. Sodi on Pakington Street is the dog friendly café that serves up brunch options for humans and their four-legged friends. You can enjoy a myriad of sweet and savory brunch options, think everything from panacotta French toast and smashed avo to sticky pork salad all in the company of man’s best friend. Pakington Street is on to another winner in the mint green façade that is 63 Degrees. With an ever-changing seasonal menu 63 Degrees rotates a huge range of brunch options sure to keep brunch aficionados on their toes. With two full menus, one vegan and one regular 63 Degrees is ensuring there’s more than enough choice for everyone. All their regular menu brunch items, they can do vegan whether it’s a sticky soy pulled pork beno that can be converted to a mushroom and coconut bacon concoction, or their house made crumpets 63 Degrees is making sure nobody misses out at your next brunch. Whether it’s a coffee, a smoothie or a shake you’re after 63 Degrees has you covered. The venue is also fully licensed if it’s a bloody Mary type of Sunday (you know what they say about hair of the dog).

The Village Door

For a true brunch of champions look no further than The Village Door. Offering up a brunch platter to be rivalled this one is sure to impress even the pickiest of brunch goers. Fitted out with scrambled eggs, bacon, tomatoes, cevapi, hash browns AND mini pancakes with your choice of toppings The Village Door is the place to take a date you’re looking to impress. Their menu also boasts smaller dishes if the monster platter isn’t what you’re after, but id Definity recommend going hungry and giving it a crack (when in Rome, right?!). open from 8am-2pm Wednesdays-Mondays The Village Door is forever available for your brunch fix.

King of the Castle

King of the Castle has been slinging some of Geelong’s favourite coffees and brunch items for a while now and there’s a reason people keep going back! With a menu fit for a king there’s something to please even the pickiest eaters, including a whole lotta vegan options. If you’re a sweet tooth the sticky date waffles or apple cinnamon porridge can’t be missed. While if you’re after something more savory the Thai eggs or pork scotch eggs are two menu items you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere else. If brekkie food isn’t your thing, never fear, you could always opt for the BBQ pork brioche sliders or crispy cauli tacos to curb that hunger. With their kitchen open from 7.30 am until 2pm King of the Castle is making sure there’s always time for your brunch fix.
