Spearheaded by local Tom Andrew, Barwon Heads Brewing Co. will serve up a Draught, Pale Ale and Mid-Strength by June, giving locals and visitors alike a new taste of the area.

Barwon Heads is about to see the launch of their very own local brew, which is perfectly poised to become the taste left on happy visitor’s lips as they reminisce on a day well spent, or at least a thirst well earned.

Barwon Heads Brewing co, the new venture by local 25-year-old Tom Andrew, born and bred in the area, with help from a family known in the local community through their popular eatery BeachHouse Restaurant, has something very exciting up his sleeve. Actually, maybe three things.

The area’s very own Draught, Mid-Strength and Pale-Ale are set to hit our dry lips from June of this year, with 9,000 litres in total being brewed from their very own brewery in Ocean Grove, and available in cans and kegs. Tom describes the Draught as the “general crowd pleaser” accessible to everyone, the Mid-Strength a full-flavour, non-watery brew, and the Pale Ale as an approachable drink even to those not of the Pale Ale type.

And while we wait patiently in the meantime, beer aficionado’s and casual drinkers alike can sample the coming brew at the family’s BeachHouse Restaurant, which serves Modern Australian cuisine catering for everyone, with a warm and welcoming environment to match.

And although you, like us, might be jumping to try your hand at the local beer, in Tom’s mind, there’s no hurry.

“I want to nail the three beers for the first 12 months to make sure we’re happy with them, I don’t want to rush.”

So, sit tight and get pumped, Barwon Heads is going to have a new flavour, and thanks to Tom Andrew, it’s going to be one we can all get excited about.
