Geelong’s Stellar Perry has made it through to The Voice Grand Finale

If you’ve been watching The Voice this year, you will have noticed that Australia has some absolutely remarkable singer, songwriters and musicians.

The calibre of talent is at an all-time high, and amongst all the amateur singers is Geelong resident Stellar Perry.

Originally from Tasmania, Stellar’s passion for music started with her writing songs at eight years old. Over the years, Stellar tried her best to break into the industry but instead has founded her own cleaning business, where she likes to sing and dance on the job! Now 36 and settled, Stellar is ready to give fame one more crack and has come to The Voice more confident and ready than ever… especially after making it into the grand finale after last nights episode.

To give you some background, the series debuted back in May with the blind auditions, which saw Stellar and a pool of other talent take to the stage to win over this year’s judges – Delta Goodrem, Boy George, Kelly Rowland or Guy Sebastian, with hopes to collect a deal with EMI Music Australia and $100,000 in prize money.

In the initial blind auditions, Stellar Perry managed to turn all four judges chairs with her performance of Lady Gaga’s emotional hit song, ‘Always Remember Us This Way’, bringing coach Kelly Rowland to tears and landing her on Team Delta.

Next came ‘The Battles’ stage of the competition, where coaches put two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of the studio audience. Once the coach has picked their favourite and sent that singer through to the next round, the other coaches have an opportunity to use one of only two “saves” they each have to pick up the singer that was eliminated. Stellar once again made it through, winning the battle against Matt Gresham with their rendition of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Slide Away’.

Playoffs saw Stellar deliver an emotional and raw performance of Bilie Eilish’s ‘I Love You’, before sharing her stunning rendition of Madonna’s ‘Like a Prayer’ on Monday nights showdowns, as the Coaches agreed she brought fire and spark, taking her to the semi-finals against Jesse Teinaki.

In a heartbreaking mentoring session ahead of last night’s episode, Delta has her address her emotional hurt and past wounds, before tasking her with the ultimate comeback anthem, ‘Believe’ by Cher. Stellar admits letting go of her feelings of unworthiness and pain is the last piece of the puzzle, and she is ready to really believe she is deserving of a place in the Grand Final. It’s a stunningly defiant performance, with Stellar’s storytelling ability on full display. This time, she even manages some confident smiles as she sings about believing in life after love and it is a look of sheer relief as she completes her rendition.

Chosen to represent Delta Stellar is now fighting for her chance at the crown against three other absolute powerhouse talents – the show-stopper Johnny Manuel, Guy’s little brother Chris Sebastian, and 18-year old Siala Robson. These final four outstanding artists will represent their respective Coaches in the Grand Finale on Sunday night as they compete to win $100,000 in prizemoney and a recording contract with EMI Music Australia.

As part of this, the four original songs to be sung in The Voice Grand Finale have been revealed and are available for the public to stream now. Stellar will be singing Love Ain’t Broken, which you can listen to here ahead of the finale.

The winner will be determined by the first public vote of the season as the Coaches hand over responsibility to Voice fans to choose The Voice of Australia 2020.

Voting opens now and voting details can be found via nine.com.au/thevoice. The Voice Australia Grand Finale airs this Sunday 7.00pm on Nine and 9Now.
