Geelong’s rising rock phenomenon blyss unveils debut single ‘Feel It All’

blyss is the amalgamation of passion, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of their musical identity.

Hailing from the coastal shores Surf Coast / Naarm, blyss has emerged as one seriously dynamic force in the music scene, blending nostalgia with modernity to craft a sound uniquely their own. Comprised of Nick, Tristan, Nathan, and Bill, the four-piece band combines their diverse influences to create music that is as energetic as it is emotive.

Reflecting on blyss’s sound, guitarist Nathan Mossop shares, “The music that we make feels super energetic and almost nostalgic to us. Whether it’s an emotional section of a song or straight-up pub energy, we really make sure that there’s a feeling attached to all the parts.

“As a four piece band, we have such different influences and I think they’ve melted together nicely. We all love heavy shit, yet we all love a great pop song and hopefully people will get behind our version of whatever that means to us.”

Drawing inspiration from a range of genres, blyss infuses their music with elements of heavy rock and pop sensibilities, creating a sound that resonates with audiences, especially with the release of their first single ‘Feel It All’.

Triumphantly making their presence in the industry known, ‘Feel It All’ sees blyss deliver an electrifying blend of raw emotion, cinematic strength, and stadium-sized energy.

Running just over three minutes and a half minutes, ‘Feel It All’ captures the essence of blyss’s sound, seamlessly blends elements of alternative rock, punk, and grunge with a splash of pop to create a sound that is uniquely their own, transporting listeners to another time. From scorching guitar riffs to thundering bass lines, soaring vocals and a driving drum beat, the track is a testament to the band’s ability to craft a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly distinctive.

Nathan explains, “Making ‘Feel It All’ personally took me back to a time when the charts were full of bands like Third Eye Blind, Sum 41, Blink 182 and all that good stuff. I don’t know if anyone else will feel that when they hear it but that’s how I see the song.

“There’s a little home video of live performances, band pracs and stuff from our childhood mixed in there to go along with the track, you can find that on YouTube!”

With each verse, the song peels back layers of introspection, exploring themes of love, loss, and existential uncertainty. In ‘Feel It All’, listeners are taken on a journey of self-discovery and catharsis, embracing the full spectrum of human emotion, from the depths of despair to the heights of ecstasy.

The chorus itself serves as a poignant reminder of the transient nature of existence, as Tristan declares, ‘I can feel it all. I was never really there, I was never really ready for another trip around the sun. She said, I don’t belong now to anyone.’

Resonating with authenticity and vulnerability, the band’s approach to creating the powerful atmosphere in ‘Feel It All’ was a collaborative effort, with Nathan and vocalist Tristan laying down the groundwork before bringing the track to life as a band.

“Feel It All was created super fast,” Nathan recalls. “Tristan and I were living together for a year and after spending almost half of it being absolute rubbish and not recording any music, we got in that studio and smashed a demo of ‘Feel It All’ out in one day. We worked on the vocals afterwards, took it to Bill (bass) and Nick (drums) at a band practice and we molded it into what it is now together.”

Further explaining the single’s creation, Nathan adds, “We tracked Nicks drums with Isaac Barter, did the vocals and guitars ourselves at home, tracked bass with The Loud Noise Estate in Coburg and then they mixed and mastered it. Massive shout-out to The Loud Noise Estate, they taught us lots and everything we did with them lads really helped shape our music into something that we’re super proud of, including the next two singles you’ll hear after ‘Feel It All’.”

With soaring vocals, infectious melodies, and a relentless energy that demands attention, ‘Feel It All’ is a testament to the band’s boundless potential.

Transitioning from their previous moniker, The Vainz, to blyss has allowed the band to explore new creative avenues and define their musical identity.

Nathan reflects, “Nowadays in blyss, it’s all about the stuff that comes collaboratively, naturally and somewhat quickly.  I really believe that’s where your best music comes from, the stuff that just bursts out of your chest like that scene from Alien. ‘Feel It All’ helped us discover that.”

Having cut their teeth at iconic venues such as Lead Beater Hotel in Melbourne, Barwon Club Geelong, Torquay Hotel, and Cherry Bar Melbourne over the last 12 months alone, blyss is no stranger to the stage. Their dynamic live performances serve as a testament to their musical prowess and undeniable charisma, captivating audiences with every chord and lyric.

As live shows continue to be a priority for blyss, the energy and enthusiasm they bring to the stage only enhance the impact of their debut single. Nathan shares a poignant moment from a live performance, revealing, “Before he passed away last year, my brother’s best friend told me that he liked ‘Feel It All’ the most out of our set. He said it reminded him of The Killers and he could see it getting big one day. We dedicated the song to him live at Bells Beach Brewery not too long after his passing, that’s a huge reason why the song is so special to me personally.”

Looking ahead, blyss is eager to continue sharing their music with the world, with two singles set to follow ‘Feel It All.’ Nathan teases, “Whether it’s an EP or an album, you’ll be getting more craziness, more solos, more singalongs, more energy – all of it.”

With ‘Feel It All,’ the band showcases their versatility and musical maturity, and it seems clear that there is plenty more to come from this talented, young band. Nathan reflects on the track, stating, “This single marks the start of our band, it means everything to us at the moment. The music we’ll release in the future will surely change styles somewhat but this is the first time you’ll hear that blyss sound that’ll run through everything we make.”

With their debut single ‘Feel It All,’ blyss proves that they are more than just another rock outfit – they are a force to be reckoned with. As Nathan puts it, “Listen to ‘Feel It All’, show your mates, come see us live, bring them mates, scream the words and have a drink with us. We’ll keep pumping out stuff to listen to in return.”

Do yourself a favour and give blyss a listen. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
