Geelong’s Pinot Affair is back for its third year with a fresh new look.
The juicy goodness of grapes extracted from the Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and Moorabool Valley has never tasted so good. Smooth but full in flavour, the humble Pinot Noir will be celebrated at a ‘Pinot Affair’ in an exciting reimagined event.
While previous Pinot Affairs have been held as a central tasting event, this year will see several events happening at participating wineries to encourage you to reconnect, explore, taste and discover Geelong Pinot like never before.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.
Running across two days on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22, there are more than 15 wineries participating in the celebrations, featuring more than 18 special Pinot focused activities across this weekend including masterclasses, tasting experiences, high teas, special lunches and degustation dinners, just to name a few.
“Pinot Affair this year is moving from a one-day event in Geelong to being held at the wineries over the weekend. This gives people an opportunity to experience the wineries and vineyards where the wines are produced. It allows us as a region to showcase how great our Pinot Noirs are and the diversity in styles we produce,” says Robin Brockett, Wine Geelong president.
“The individuality of each producer is expressed in their wines. There will be an array of offerings at each winery from masterclasses, back vintage wines to taste to Pinot Noir focused wine dinners. Plenty to experience for all who visit.”
While we’re blessed with a number of fabulous wineries championing pinot noir, true highlights of the weekend include Austin’s new cellar door, which they are converting into a Pinot Piazza for the event and they will be serving gnocchi with Pinot ragu, meatball sliders and tiramisu; a Savour Our Pinot Masterclass or Degustation Dinner at Provenance Wines, plus various winetasting and masterclass activities Scotchman’s Hill French Provincial Main House led by Scotchmans Hill Chief Winemaker Robin Brockett, with a selection of charcuterie.
Another unmissable event will be Mt Duneed Estate’s Pinor Affair Wine and High Tea. Featuring a mix of Pinot Noir inspired sweet and savoury delicacies, guests will enjoy a two-hour experience of a Pinot Noir wine flight with a sample of Regional Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley), Geelong Pinot Noir (Geelong) and Single Vineyard Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley).
Providing a weekend to taste, discover and explore Geelong Pinot like never before, this event is all about championing the strength and quality of Geelong’s Pinot Noir across more than a dozen of our beloved local wineries.
