Palais Geelong is set to come alive on Friday, 1 December 2023, as the Sweethearts Party returns for an unforgettable night of soulful tunes and charitable vibes. The all-ages annual fundraiser promises a blend of modern, classic, and neo-soul, accompanied by silent auctions and raffles.

Headlining the event is of course the Sweethearts, an all-female soul band that has graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, and Porretta Soul Festival. Renowned for their refreshing take on soul, the band delivers new original works alongside inspired adaptations spanning from 60s R&B to Modern Funk and Soul.
Breaking boundaries and defying expectations, the Geelong Sweethearts aims to empower young women with an electrifying stage presence. From sizzling guitar solos to mesmerizing vocal tones, Sweethearts demand attention and have earned praise from industry legends. Claudia Regolatti, Festival Programmer at Montreux Jazz Festival, states, “Sweethearts will always be welcome at Montreux Jazz Festival,” while drumming legend Bernard Purdie exclaims, “There is nothing like this band in the world. These girls need to be heard.”

The Sweethearts Foundation Inc., the driving force behind the Sweethearts & Young Hearts program and band, focuses on providing extensive professional music industry opportunities to young women in regional Victoria. The program includes real gigs, international festival performances, collaborative mentoring, and a platform for songwriting and creativity. Notable artists, including Alice Ivy, Imogen Brough, and Jess Ellwood, have kick-started their careers through the Sweethearts program.
Joining Sweethearts on stage for the party is Ella Joan, an artist known for her soothing music that experiments across various instruments and genres. From spacious folk guitar to angsty drums and jazzy rhythms, Ella Joan weaves unique stories through her compositions and soul-bearing vocals. Her lyrics delve into topics such as the tribulations of adolescence, a sense of home and comfort, global issues, and big feelings.
