Have you got what it takes to embrace the legendary Elvis Presley - the undisputed ‘King of Rock and Roll’?

One of the most iconic public figures of the 20th century, Elvis left a unique and indelible mark on the American music landscape that endures to this day.

If like us, you’ve been reminded of the sheer brilliance of Elvis Presley over the past few months thanks to the arrival of the exclusive Elvis: Direct from Graceland exhibition at Bendigo Art Gallery and Australian director Baz Luhrmann’s long-awaited fever dream of a biopic about the King of Rock’n’Roll, Elvis, this is local competition might be just the thing to warm up a cool winter night.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here

Kicking off this Thursday, June 23, the competition will be running from Mad Good (the dedicated Karaoke Bar located with local favourite The Barking Dog) with its very first heat, to celebrate the arrival of the Elvis movie (check out the trailer here).

The stage opens at 7:30 pm and the evening will be hosted by local music talent John ‘The King’ Stephensen, a regular on Guitar Bar who himself can belt out some epic Elvis classics.

The competition will run for five weeks each Thursday, with heat two kicking off on June 30, heat three on July 7, heat four on July 14 and heat five on July 21.

Two winners from each heat will perform at the Grand Final, which will be held on Thursday, July 28. The final will also feature a special guest performance from Australia’s Best Elvis Impersonator, Jack Gatto.

This contest is a search for the Elvis tribute artist who best represents Elvis in the area of vocals, style, stage presence and overall performance. Participants will sing one song each, and the same song will not be played until a minimum of five songs rotation – so it’s recommended you get in early to secure your song choice.

The grand final will then see the top 10 contestants perform one song, with the top three to battle it out again. The winner will then go home with a $500 cash prize, while second and third will receive a $200 and $100 venue voucher, respectively.

Winners will be decided by Mad Good Hosts and judged on Best Impersonation. Costume, Vocal and Mimicry.

Whether you want to get involved, or you just want to watch ‘The King’ on stage with a drink in hand, this is a must-attend.
