The perfect pitstop to gather insights, grab maps, brochures, and ideas from incredible volunteers, brimming with local know-how.
In a historic move, the Geelong Visitor Information Centre has found a new abode within the iconic City Hall on Gheringhap Street. With a fresh look and a whole lot of charm, this latest development is set to elevate the visitor experience in Geelong.
The Visitor Centre, operated by Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine, is now ready to roll, seven days a week, from 10 am to 4 pm (with a polite nod to Christmas Day when it takes a break). Welcoming tourists with open arms are the centre’s squad of 60 friendly volunteers, poised to make your stay unforgettable.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.
A visit here means you’ll be plugged into a wealth of information, spanning tours, arts and culture hotspots, dining and accommodation recommendations, car rental options, laundromats, supermarkets, public transport advice, and even the location of those all-important dump points. Local tours, led by these knowledgeable volunteers, can also be at your service for a mere $15 per person (remember to book ahead to secure your spot).
This newly minted hub, nestled in the heart of Geelong’s City Hall, serves as a bustling crossroads for both locals and tourists hailing from Melbourne, regional Victoria, interstate, and beyond, offering the lowdown on all the wonders Greater Geelong has in store.
Notably, this shift sees the Visitor Information Centre at the National Wool Museum finding a fresh home in the hallowed halls of City Hall after a three-decade stint at its previous location. So, whether you’re at City Hall or the Geelong Carousel, or even browsing around the Market Square Shopping Centre or Avalon Airport, you’ll have visitor information at your fingertips.
The dedication of Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine’s volunteers shines through, with over 83,000 visitors served by these welcoming folks at the region’s Visitor Information Centres in 2022-23.
Discover, explore, and make your Geelong visit an unforgettable adventure with the help of these dedicated volunteers.
