The inaugural Potato Shed Summer Series will be brought to a glittering end as the Glitter Gang celebrate their unique and enduring homage to the hits of your youth.
The Glitter Gang are back and are celebrating the 30th anniversary of pulling on the jumpsuits and platform heels with a special milestone birthday at the Potato Shed next week.
Kicking off from 7pm on Saturday 29 January, the night will end in a hail of glitter as the Geelong superstars celebrate 30 years of their unique and enduring homage to the hits of the 70s.
The glam rock band formed in Geelong in the early ’90s when a bunch of guys playing in The Finkers decided to do a set of ’70s classics.
Focusing on tributing 70’s legends, their setlist includes material from The Sweet, Dragon, David Bowie, AC/DC, John Paul Young, Blue Suede, Suzi Quatro, ELO, Cheap Trick, KISS and Alice Cooper, Hush, Bay City Rollers, Alvin Stardust and Skyhooks – to name a few. Think songs like, Are You Old Enough; Ballroom Blitz; Billy Don’t be a Hero; Boney Maroney; Bye Bye Baby; Can’t Stop Myself from Loving You; Coo Ca Choo; and everything in between, all the way through to Surrender; Whatever you Want and Yesterday’s Hero.
If you are a certain age, you will know every word to every song they play. It’ll be like watching Countdown, except you don’t need to be told by Molly Meldrum to Do Yourself a Favour.

Since their inception, the band has seen several members come and go, but always with the same enthusiasm and a trail of rock glitter behind them.
Unleashing the power of the 70s as only they can do, the current lineup will feature Barry Glamour (Guitar, vocals), Billy Hero (Drums), Marsha Brady (Guitar, vocals), Bobby Dazzler (Bass) and Roland Bolan (Keys, vocals), with members promising to deliver an absolute belter of a show.
The event is the final of the Summer Series at the Potato Shed, a new initiative from the City of Greater Geelong designed to inject some energy into the Bellarine Peninsula over the summer. The inaugural summer series has so far featured an outdoor cinema, gigs for kids, a bar and live music, ensuring there’s something for everyone this summer.
Get your leather pants out, it’s bound to be a good night – plus there will be prizes and giveaways for those in their best 70s gear.
BYO picnic rug and food – the new outdoor bar will be open for you to buy drinks at bar prices.
The 30th-anniversary show will run from the Potato Shed’s outdoor stage in Wadawurrung Country, 41 Peninsula Drive, Drysdale. You can book your tickets here.
