Geelong Barbershop wins Salon of the Year

A local barbershop in Geelong has taken the crown for ‘2019 Salon of the Year’ at the HBIA (Hair and Beauty Industry Association) Australian Hairdressing Championships.

Hunter Barbershop in Belmont has achieved one of the highest awards in Australian competitive hairdressing last Sunday, this is the first time a Geelong salon has won the award. Hunter Barbershops full time employee’s Tayla and Vaughn led the barbershop to victory, Tayla (qualified barber) took away 1st place in ‘Men’s Trend Cut’ and 2nd Place in ‘Men’s Black and White Photo’ and Vaughn (second year apprentice) scored 2nd place in ‘Men’s Classic Cut’ and 3rd place in ‘Men’s Fade’.

The Hairdressing Championships were held at the Pullman in Albert Park, Hunter Barbershop competed against hundreds of Salons from all around the country and managed to become the first ever Barbershop to take this award. Just before it’s first birthday, Hunter Barbershop is beyond proud of their achievements and this award is an example of the incredible talent we have here in country Victoria.
