Geelong Arts Centre to host free family day this weekend for Wonder Children’s Festival

Geelong Arts Centre has your weekend plans in order with Family Day, boasting free activities for the kids.

In celebration of the two-week Wonder Children’s Festival this year, Geelong Arts Centre will be hosting a special event Family Day, this weekend on Saturday, 21st September, packed with fun activities for the entire family.

Families from across the region are invited to join this immersive celebration of creativity, adventure, and imagination. From free interactive activities to delightful performances, Geelong Arts Centre’s Family Day is designed to reflect the nature of Wonder Children’s Festival through inspiring joy and wonder for kids and families alike.

Wonder Children’s Festival Free Family Day

Wonder Children’s Festival is in full swing at Geelong Arts Centre, starting 12 September and running until 26 September to celebrate the end of term 3, with a colourful lineup of events from vibrant live music performances to imaginative theatre pieces, stepping inside books and beyond the screen. The festival has seen Teeny Tiny Stevies, The Gruffalo and Imagine Live lead the festival with special performances.

Adding to an already booming program of events for Wonder Children’s Festival, the Family Day will include a bunch of activities for the kids to enjoy and the best part is it’s all free! Family Day kicks off from 9:30am at Geelong Arts Centre on 50 Little Malop Street, with a full day of engaging performances, roving entertainers, and hands-on activities until 4:00pm.

Highlights of the free Geelong Arts Centre Family Day experiences include:

Wonderland Disco

Let loose and get groovy to disco beats at our Wonderland Disco. Kids will learn funky moves from Hana Fiesta during three ridiculous and absurd disco dance sessions!

Oculus by The Indirect Object

Step into a magical world where vintage lighthouse beacons and animation come together in this enchanting installation. Featuring eco-friendly materials and recyclable paper, Oculus offers a fun and sustainable experience for all ages!

One Eye and Frill Neck

Meet two hilarious alien puppets who will spread laughter and magic with their wacky adventures. Catch these two kooky characters between performances throughout the foyers.

Circus Skills

Learn juggling, plate-spinning, and clowning around with roving circus entertainers! Immerse yourself in the fun by trying your hand at a variety of exciting playful circus skills.

Balloon Animals & Face Painting

Watch as balloon artists create whimsical creatures and let little ones transform into magical characters with face painting.

Colouring Table & Scavenger Hunt

Dive into creative fun at the Colouring Table and embark on a thrilling scavenger hunt across the Centre.
