Winter is the perfect time of year to snuggle up under the doona, put on your uggies and sip on an extra hot chocolate. While it’s all good for us, we must not forget that animals feel the cold too… and unfortunately, not all animals have a loving forever home to keep them cosy.
With the cooler weather setting in, the amazing team at Geelong Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) are in desperate need of blankets and towels to keep those beautiful animals at GAWS warm, toasty and above all, healthy.
If you, a family member, or a friend have any clean blankets or towels that you no longer need, the GAWS family would absolutely love them. Big, little, old, new – as long as it’s clean and can be used, they’ll take them. They’ll also take pet food if you’ve got some!
There is a designated donation drop point set up in front of the reception building at the Moolap facility that is open during their hours of operation.
Being outdoors, this ensures a safe, contactless drop as you will not have to enter the building.
If you don’t have any blankets or towels to give but you still want to help you can also donate to the GAWS Emergency Appeal. Your donation will be used to help the team prepare for the unknown by rapidly extending their Foster Care Program, swiftly adapting their models of service to meet new demands, offer support to community members not able to care for their animals during this time and continue to provide care for the animals currently at GAWS.
